Chapter 19 - Chapter 18: Awakening and Lights

A/N: HAPPY NEW YEARS!!, I was planning on posting this on the actual New year but the electricity went out while I was making the chapter so yeah, anyways, enjoy:

edit: forgot to put the Shock Skill

As soon as I finished reading it, my jaw smacked the floor of the cave and went into a deep sleep.

[Some Time Later]

Huh? Where am I? Oh right, I was put to sleep.

What time is it today?.

"Lucoa, How long was I out?"

[Host!, I'm glad you're alright, and you were asleep for about 58 hours]

"What??!!!!" I ran the calculations in my head

"Over 2 days?" And I wasn't attacked or eaten up by a passing monster in that time frame? My luck has definitely improved.

"Ok, Man, it was a shocker that gaining too many skills can do this, I have to be careful when gaining too many skills in the future"

[Yes, but also No]

"What do you mean?"

[This is only a one-time occurrence, you see, the emergency protocols stated that it is because you are still young, about 5 hours old at that point in time and you gained too many skills in that time frame, and since 2 days have passed, you are free to gain as many skills and abilities as you can now without the forceful sleep]

"I understand, that reminds me, what was the skill I gained from the Electro-Leafwing?"

—--------------------

[Shock (Tier IV)] <>

[Generates controlled bioelectric discharge to the outer layer of the skin, which damages targets on contact and disrupts neuromuscular activity. Active output persists while channelled.

Proficiency: 1%

Activation Delay: 10 seconds

Activation Cost: 10 Energy/sec

DMG: (INT × 2)

Special Effects:

1. Conductive Amplification: Bioelectric damage increases by +5% per active electric-type skill from allies (maximum +2500%).

2. Muscle Shock: Each second of contact has a 0.01% chance to inflict Paralysis III on a 2 square meter area. Chance increases by +0.01% if another electric-type skill from an ally is active

[Paralysis III: Momentary motor loss on the affected area for 1 Minute, Strong Will reduces countdown-time and/or effectiveness

3. Pain Receptor Override: Each second of contact has a 2% chance to inflict Pain I on a 50 square cm area. Chance increases by +1% if another electric-type skill from an ally is active.

[Pain I: Increases susceptibility of the pain receptors in the Immediate area for 1 minute, Pain received is tripled, clouding the mind, High Pain Tolerance reduces countdown-time and/or effectiveness]

—--------------------

The frown on my face could not be more pronounced 'Man, this is kinda lame, it's a very ally-reliant skill,, plus the fact that it's a 10-second delay when activating it, although the saving grace is that it doesn't consume energy until it is actually activated but still, Should I just recycle this?'

'NO, the fact that the chances of activating the debuff is actually stated via percentages rather than vaguely is a good thing, even if it is small, but for a gacha gamer, anything on or above 0.1% is basically a guarantee, or so they say, haven't really experienced it much due an actually shit luck but considering I am many times more lucky than in my previous life, hehehe, I think I should keep this one'

I rise up from the floor, stretching and moving, the cracks and pops of the stagnant bones and joints echoed within my body.

"Aaah~~~~, That's the spot" I groan in pleasure

My joints were overjoyed after having been in the same position for apparently 2 days

I took a deep breath and exhaled, inha-

*Sniff* *sniff*

'Something smells nice' I look around but i only see the cooked centipedes but they don't smell like the one i'm smelling

*Sniiiifff*

'It's coming from outside, it smells kind of….smoky? Huh, weird'

Speaking of Centipedes, I look at their corpses, 'At least they're not spoiled, well some of them i think, it's starting to smell a little sour and methane-ey'

'Now what to do with these?' I try to come up with a solution, until finally I found one

"I can use my energy or materials in exchange for the System Upgrade Tokens right? "

[Yes, would you like to make an exchange? If you want to do so, please put the materials in front of you and write a circle around it on the ground and state the purpose of your transaction]

"Uhh, pretty weird but ok" and so I do as she told me to and said:

"I'd like to exchange these for System Upgrade Tokens Please"

I blinked once and suddenly it seemed as though the corpses I piled earlier weren't ever there to begin with, there was no white light, no nothing, complete disappearance which was pretty jarring to say the least, the only evidences that there used to be corpses there were the trail of Insect Ichor on the ground that was cut immediately up until the circle I set up.

[SUT gained! +0.41]

[SUT exchanged for the first time! +1 SUT]

[Current SUT: 1.43]

'Hmm, makes sense that it's so small, but what exactly makes the materials used to be valuable? The Tier of the creature is an obvious variable I think, is it the time of death? Maybe, is butchering somehow going to make it more valuable? Probably, though I doubt the system would care about things like how a meat is cut so maybe cleanliness of the offering? If so then maybe Spoilage is another variable.'

'Let's ask Luc, maybe she knows' And so asked her a question again for the hundredth time since reincarnating to this world, asking her a ton of questions like a little child which I physically am by the way.

[I don't have any relevant Information regarding that dear host, my apologies]

"I see, well let's just experiment about that soon enough"

And with that out of the way, I went outside to follow the smell of the delicious smoky scent.

I reached the porch area of my cave, it was currently nighttime here which made whatever I saw in the distance stand out like a sore thumb.

In the distance I saw some white lights around the Warbat corpse.

'Is that-?' My eyes widened

The light surrounded the area where the Warbat corpse was, and somewhere close to it was even more lights, with multiple white tents pitched up in a symmetrically square manner.

'A camp?' Happiness bloomed within my chest, my people, humans, the civilization I was once a part of just 2 days ago.

'heh, I thought I would have to look for the humans but instead they found me' I felt a little bit nostalgic and sad.

'Should I go there? Nah, they'd probably kill me on the spot'

'But I want to know where they came from, maybe even steal some of their stuff, a pillow or a blanket would be nice' I thought, since sleeping on the ground doesn't feel nice.

'And besides, a little recon mission wouldn't hurt anybody right?' I returned to my cave, ate some of the cooked Centi-queen, because you can't do anything on an empty stomach, the meat was cold but satiating enough.

I ate my fill of 2 days worth before leaving to the porch and I jumped down from the cliff, Danger Sense, Silent Glide, Thermal Sense, and Night Vision passively helping me in their own ways.

I arrived on the forest floor, and I immediately spotted a green-ish silhouette standing out, not by much but it was noticeable

I followed where it was and there I saw a centipede, and I looked at where it was looking at and found another centipede, they both had the same looks except that they weren't Patchwork Centipedes, their legs were a lot beefier but very sleek in design despite them being a bunch of chunky-looking fellas, so I used Analysis on them

'A Megapede'

"Congratulations you both have been promoted to: Guinea Pig" I smiled

'Shock'

I activated the skill….and waited for 10 seconds

As soon as I felt the skill activate, I was already pouncing, my hand, palms and claws wide open intending to hit it directly on to first centipedes head

What I realized when the skill activated was that there were no blue electric sparks travelling through my body, but I could feel the little tingling of the electricity on my skin which I paid no attention to.

In the split-second when the skill activated, my outstretched hand connected to its head and-

Tzzzzzzt *PSSSSHKKKK*

My hand passed right through it, killing it instantly.

[Gained 780 xp]

"Huh..Well that was underwhelming, what about you then" I turned to the other centipede before I felt my body instinctually dodge a little to the side.

'So that's what it feel's like to Dodge automatically'

The long arthropod was barely an inch apart from my body and yet it was still electrocuted by the [Shock Skill], meaning that something that barely had a little contact with me can get hit by it, which was good to know.

I then killed the electrocuted centipede and gained 800 xp before going on to continue my little journey

After a few minutes of light flying, walking and avoiding certain colors in the forest that Danger Sense gave me, I finally reached their camp which wasn't hard considering that predators and animals alike slowly became lesser and lesser in number as i got closer to the camp.

I carefully skirted their perimeter and approached the Warbat. They were in the middle of cutting it apart, and from the way they handled the meat, bones, and other neatly severed parts, it was clear they were harvesting it for materials and most likely the meat is fit for consumption because speaking of meat, some humans were cooking in it their little cooking area; grilled meat, stew, steaks, you name it, the aroma from their food was salivating my mouth.

*Tinginingining ting ting ting ting*

A loud sound echoed throughout the forest and that was probably an alarm because the workers dismantling the corpse all stopped working and were starting to walk back to their camp.
