Right after the disappearance of the island, the councillors who had given the order to spy on the Fairy Tail guild decided it was better for the information about the battle not to be made public. The Ishgar Four didn't comment on it, as it was of no consequence to them. To them, it only mattered if anything happened to the guild they had promised to protect for the next seven years. Unless something was attempted against the guild, they allowed it to happen.
But one person decided it was not enough. The reports now sent out only included information that the guild's island and members had disappeared after being attacked by Acnalogia. It did not include the battle in which Acnalogia was injured and lost its eye. The council members decided it was better for it to remain a secret. But little did they know that one person was already doing what was necessary.
"If you do this, you will not get suspended, but you will get fired without any pension, and your earlier accomplishments will be completely destroyed," Lahar warned Doranbolt.
"I know. That's why I am the only one doing this. Make sure to keep them all in line when I'm gone. They won't have me to wipe out memories to hide their problems anymore," Doranbolt replied as he shut off the communicator lacrima.
Doranbolt had no idea why he was doing this—guilt over the fact that innocents had died at the hands of Acnalogia while he did nothing, perhaps. A kind of penance for thinking he could take down one of the strongest guilds in Fiore like they were criminals, when instead they had done their best to save the world. It did not take them long to realise that Karna had stayed behind to attack Acnalogia so that his next attack would not happen on the continent.
Doranbolt added the video information into the public broadcaster.
"I just want the world to know what he did," he muttered to himself as he pressed the button for Ishgar-wide projection.
It did not take long for the entire continent to realise what had happened to the missing Fairy Tail members.
It had been three weeks since the attack happened, and after a week, Fairy Tail members had gone toward the direction of Tenrou Island to find out what had happened, but they were only met with an empty sea where the island was supposed to be. Divers were able to find that there seemed to be a crater where the island had stood before. It only gave them a foreboding sense that something had gone wrong.
Gildarts was able to get a few of his connections in the harbour to gather information about any ships that had gone after Fairy Tail had headed to the island. It did not take him long to figure out that a few council ships had been seen going in that direction.
But before he could confront the council about it, the council suddenly released the news about Tenrou Island being destroyed by the attack of the Apocalypse Dragon.
Gildarts was unable to believe it and immediately set out with a ship to the location of the island.
As the person who survived the attack of the dragon, he was able to clearly sense the residual energy left behind by the arcane black dragon. He recognised that the attack on the island was from Acnalogia, but he still felt something was missing.
And today, he was able to see the entire battle along with the rest of the people in Ishgar.
"How far have you reached, you brat?" Gildarts cursed with a smile as he watched Karna go toe to toe with the dragon that had ripped him in half without any problem a year ago. The only reason he did not have prosthetics was because of the healing done by the Horse Talisman after he returned to the guild.
At the same time, in different parts of Ishgar—
"Is this a dragon?" Sting muttered as he watched the battle between Acnalogia and Karna.
He had believed himself capable of killing a dragon because his father had made him kill him. He believed he could take on any dragon on his own.
He clenched his fist, his determination rising as he vowed to become stronger than Karna was when he fought Acnalogia.
At the same time, the Shadow Dragon Slayer was also having similar thoughts as he watched the battle.
"I will make you proud, Father," he muttered while watching every single moment of the battle.
The whole world had found out the truth about the disappearance of Tenrou Island and the battle that had preceded its destruction.
Acnalogia was not known by many, as he was kept secret to make sure the public did not panic because of the knowledge of the Dragon of Calamity. But there were still many who had an idea about the strength of the dragon synonymous with the apocalypse itself. For all those people, Karna became a legend to be remembered.
At the same time, on the island hidden in the timestream—
Karna woke up to find his limbs missing from his body. The last attack from Acnalogia had destroyed his legs as well. The only reason he survived was because his armour had kept him alive.
He concentrated and manifested death energy to form an arm, then took out the Horse Talisman from his storage.
The talisman glowed the moment it connected with Karna's body and started healing his limbs.
But as the healing continued, Karna was able to feel his body getting stronger as the seconds passed.
"Looks like I'm getting my Zenkai boost," Karna muttered as he clenched his fists to feel the increase in strength.
He then manifested a bit of death energy and easily felt the increased ease with which he could control it. The amount of exertion was also reduced many times.
"Alright, let's wake up the others."
