( The kitchen )
Mai while Samuel simply place the butter on the bread before calling out for his grand son, his eyes landed nervously on his cellphone
" Melody !!! "
He murmured to himself as he rub his chin a bit lost before shaking his head to remove such thoughts off his mind.
" Barnabas !! "
He called out softly yet again listening to the hurry footsteps of Barnabas who ran into the kitchen already wearing his blue PJ
" Grandpa !! "
He cried out happily as he approached waving both his hands for Samuel to see
" I already wash my hands grandpa "
" Hmm you did a very good job you come and eat and then off to bed "
He instructed giving Barnabas his plastic plate whom walked out eagerly towards the dinning table only to be picked up by Samuel who patiently place him on his seat
" Thank you grandpa "
He added before taking a bit from his bread eagerly chewing each piece with gladness only to receive a glass of warm milk by his side which got his attention .
" Grandpa aren't you gonna have dinner. ? "
He found himself asking Samuel who just smile shaking his head to him this was nothing back when he had nothing , he could go on a day without food .
" Grandpa is not hungry you eat "
He softly said while strolling a distance towards the window side in attempt to cool down his nerves before returning back to Barnabas side who seem too focused on eating to notice any changes about his grandpa
" Tomorrow we will head back to daddy home to get you some change of clothes so you can attend classes , you have already missed a lot a classes within these two days "
Samuel inform Barnabas who nodded with a smile while eating but soon realized something.
" Grandpa someone asked me to give you something "
He soon asked his voice thin and filled with innocence which got Samuel confused .
" Someone ?? "
" Hmmm at the filling station a man who calms to be your friend told me to head you something "
With that he climbed down rushing towards his normal wear he wore for the day bringing out a white envelope before rushing to Samuel side passing it to him .
Who took it gently removing the contact from the envelope to find an old photo which got him shaken his eyes clouded with deep memories seeing this photo yet again before noticing the small words behind it .
" Longest time old friend "
He lips twisted in a frown as he finally notice the number under it
" Grandpa are you sick ? "
This sudden question soon caught Samuel attention who shook his head
" No grandpa isn't "
He said before adding
" Did you by chance remember who gave you this evelope ? "
His eyes closed with fear as he asked this question only to receive a silence shook
" I don't remember his him but he knew you "
Barnabas answered calmly but truthfully
" Barnabas next time if a stranger comes up to you no matter if it's someone who calms to know me or your parents don't answer such person do you understand ? "
He asked Barnabas who nodded completely
" And you shouldn't take things from stranger it's a very bad habit "
He further explain to Barnabas who still nodded feeling ashamed from his earlier action
" I understand grandpa I won't do it next time "
He promised seriously only to receive a proud smile from Samuel
" you head to your dad room and rest I will clean up today "
He urged Barnabas who happily obey , in the thought of escaping from work for the night watching Barnabas skip his way with the glass of milk to his room the moment he heard the door sounds finally shut
He drop down his fake smile wanting to grab his phone to dial his number but soon stop himself from realizing something .
" Why was he so panic if he remembers correctly he had already paid for his crime and had living with the guilt for a long time now "
This thought ran into his mind as he soon calm down
" Maybe this was his punishment after all "
He thought silently holding the cross tightly on his neck praying down deep with so much regrets of his past mistakes but unfortunately
The Lord God was merciful enough to forgive him giving him another chance in life which he was great full for and won't be foolish enough to misuse such opportunity
For now he have to just try to stop any of his children in making such grave mistakes and stoping himself for doing any as well .
Picking up the bowls used by Barnabas wanting to take few steps only to felt his phone ringing dropping down the dishes to check the caller to find an unknown number
" Who's this ? "
He asked himself but still answered either way
": Hello who am I speaking to n? "
He asked casually adjusting his sleeves as he quickly pick up the dishes towards the small kitchen sink which he place in .
Only to receive silence making him a bit confused checking on the caller to discover the call was still on
" Hello !! "
He try once more to receive a beep knowing who ever it was had hanged up he could only wonder if it was a prank call or just network itself either way he didn't seem to care that much sliding his phone into his pocket he could only focus on the task at hand watching the little dishes before placing it on its side .
Wrapping his hands with a towel the moment he walk out the kitchen towards his room to change his phone before heading to check on Barnabas who was fast asleep snoring softly simply adjusting his blanket wanting to turn off the light to find it switched off on its own .
" they finally turned off the lights "
He murmured to himself not surprised after all the continues bringing and switching of light was something not worth thinking much of but soon realized how uncomfortably hot the weather had been for few months now.
" It's a bit hot "
He thought to himself feeling extremely hot the moment the fan switch off staring at his grandson who seems quite uncomfortable in his sleep he could only walk out towards the backyard gently opened the door staring at the small light blue generator which haven't been on for six months straight .
" I hope there's still a bit fuel to last use for the night "
He thought checking on the fuel container and rather surprised to find it still filled not wasting time he quickly turned on the key which started the engine before changing the fuse
Gazing at the bright lights he smiled satisfied locking the back as he slowly walk his way towards his room in search of his Bible
After a few minutes of going through his book shift he finally came across it on his bed which made him felt a bit amused at his continues forgotten of things
Picking up his Bible while sitting on the edge of his bed as he go through some verse before stoping at Genesis reading from the beginning how the world came about
But soon paused at the sixth day of creation wondering why most people blame Eve for eating the fruit yes she was the caused of suffering on women labour,
however she wasn't alone even Adam still committed his share when God had personally commanded him not to before creating woman . Either way that wasn't what interest him what made him lost in thought was the word sin to him
In his basic understanding of that word, it was something that was so deep but yet unavoidable even Adam fail and the thought of he was actually the very first man ever created which means that humans were greedy and imperfect from the very beginning of time
He couldn't help but sigh with such thought as he further his learning of the Bible before finally going on his knees to pray hopefully praying for his son protection because he knew Deep down that what ever he might be going through was something much bigger than he thought .

( The hospital : Amita room )
Moses lay uncomfortably on the small couch as he tiredly sat up drowsy from his nap remembering the weird but detailed dream he had just had about himself being dragged into a dark hole frowning his lips in confusion but decided not to dwell on it after all it wasn't his first having such dream's .
he couldn't help but yawn widely lifting his eyes towards Anita who was still fast asleep which grace his facial with a smile .
It had actually been so long that he woke up to such calm scene he could hardly remember the last time he slept in his own house instead of his office ,
He yawned widely while stretching his stuff bones feeling the discomfort of not being able to bath , he hated such feelings but could you hate the doctor had advised me to just stay put and bare such feelings after all it was part of all treatment .
throwing his long legs down he stood up slightly ignoring the backache from sleeping so uncomfortably , he could only blame himself for not paying for a spare bed for the night like most patient .
Taking few steps towards the unconscious woman who was fast asleep
his hands gently found his way down her stomach still surprised by the fact that he was going to be a father again , remembering the sleepless nights when he first became a father Back then Barnabas was a cry baby and a loud one as that , he could only hope it's a daughter this time .
However his peaceful moment was sadly interrupted by a sudden knock which let him slowly withdraw his hands from her stomach area .
approaching the door which he opened slightly . Only to find his work colleague ( God'stime ) standing out there waving at him with a grin .
" Moses I finally found you, do you know how much i searched all over the hospital for you ? "
He said his voice loud and annoying like he had seen a string of hope just staring at him while on the other hand Moses quickly hurry out shutting the door behind before rubbing his temper
" what bring you here? No that's not the question why are you back in Nigeria so soon aren't you supposed to be with the minister ? "
He asked his face tensed with confusion watching God'stime who snif rubbing his nose silently but coughing awkwardly
" I thought you were representing mr Steve at the press conference ? "
His questions was meant with a shhhh gesture from God'stime who looked around .
" Let's talk privately first even Mr Bill doesn't know am back in Nigeria, there's something I need to show you but not here let's go and chat in my car "
He said his eyes firm and serious which tensed Moses the more something definitely had happened but what ? He wondered he could only nod his head
" Alright let me head in to wear my shoes I be out in a second "
With that he walked in taking each steps carefully grabbing his shoes before walking out with the same steps before closing the door .
" Hurry quickly "
He urged impatiently waving his hand to Moses who rolls his eyes but still follow before stoping God'stime
" You head there first I want to check on leo condition before coming to meet you "
He informed God'stime who frown deepen shaking his head
" You mean that little employee of yours ? No this is very important we can't delay time anymore you check on him when we are done talking "
He warned Moses who shook his head
" You wait for me outside understand "
He said coolly knowing who Moses was he only sighed but still nodded
" Be quick Don't delay time "
With that he walked out leaving Moses at the empty hall who looked back at side having a stare down with Mia before putting on his shoes slowly his movement was neither slow nor fast but enough to annoy the hell out of Mia who eyes were bend in displeasure .
Moses stood satisfied by his handle work on his lace before turning to his side towards leo room which was neither far or close passing through some nurses

Like his wife leo was also place at the VIP section awaiting the best treatment having no problem in handling all expenses since such incident happened under his supervisor
knowing it was his responsibility to care for his fellow colleague he stood right in front of the door .
ignoring the police man who was boldly dressed with his black uniform he couldn't help but wonder why the sudden protection he did understand it must be a way on ensuring their safety but yet it was something Moses couldn't help but feel and think differently about such treatment . His hands move slowly knocking on the door which was opened widely
" Precious you here early "
He commented taking note of her change of clothes before walking into the dull color room to find Leo still unconscious which got him worried
" How's is he ? "
He asked precious hopefully who smile
" He regain conscious within an hour yesterday before finally falling asleep the doctor had assured us that he's out of danger and just needs rest "
He explained only to receive a relief sigh
" And his mother ? "
He asked his eyes roaming around the empty room
" She went out but will soon be back "
She said calmly to Moses who sighed in relief
"'That's good to hear then I be on my way I will come later to check on him after he regain consciousness "
He murmured lightly about to step out but was held by precious who quickly let loose of his sleeves
" Sir have you reported him ? "
She asked nervously it took Moses a moment to remember who she was referring to
" Not yet but don't worry I will soon handle the matter but for now you shouldn't focus on this instead on yourself "
He said coolly taking a step out of the room to discover the police man gone from his post
" Alright "
She promised bitting her lips before asking
" Sir how's your hand ? "
She asked referring to his injured elbow only for Moses voice was grace with a mocking tone
" It's all better honestly however the skin is a bit torn so I think it's going to take time to completely heal "
He replied indifferently before glancing at both side uncomfortably finally at his feet
" Sir you alright you seem lost "
She asked noticing his odd behavior
" Precious I want you to do something for me "
He said his face serious but yet hesitate which got precious attention
" What sir ? "
She asked boldly awaiting the task
" Can you distract someone for me "
He instructed only to receive a confused look from precious even though it was a strange request she still found herself nodding
" You mean the lady from yesterday "
She asked gazing at the woman in question in her weird hiding position wanting to make sure of her guess to receive a nod
( Back at Anita room )
Not sure how long she slept she lazily moved her head both sides in dazed it took her about seconds to regain herself as she managed to sit upright her eyes wondering where her husband might be ,
The sudden ringing soon caught her attention as she glance at the purse Barnabas had gave her realizing it must be her phone and wasn't delusional .
Her hands soon found its way grabbing her purse as she checked through in search for her phone which she soon found checking on the contact to discover who it was
" Hello !! Mother "
She voiced out softly her head down just listening to the silence from the other line
" How are you feeling now ? I heard what happened are you hurt , was there any complications ? "
She asked her voice dose with concerned and worry.
" Mother am good now the doctor just informed me that it was nothing to be scared about after few days resting I be back on my feet and working "
She lied smoothly with a smile
" Ah that's good to hear now my heavy heart can be in ease I was so worried about both you and my son in law , I heard he was also in an accident is he alright as well ? "
She lied sounding panicked at such news
" It was nothing serious just some scratch here and there "
She quickly added only to receive a relief sigh from the other line
" Mother where are you now why aren't you here ? "
She thought sadly at the thought of her mom not being around .
" Oh dear I wish I could come but unfortunately am at Port Harcourt right now "
She informed sweetly which surprised Anita greatly
" You port Harcourt did something happen, are you there , is it related to brother ? "
She asked her voice dripping with worry but yet a bit curious
" Hmm can you believe how useless that boy can be not only is he stupid but also broken "
She cried dramatically which got her attention
" Mother what happened now I thought he's in Port Harcourt for school "
She asked already feeling an headache due the mention of her brother
" What did he do this time mother ? "
She asked already giving up hope on that of her trouble some brother
" He's in prison , he got arrested for the fact that one of his friends was doing some illegal business and was simply implicated , he told me he was Innocent this time because he just went there for his laptop when he police just broke in and also arrested him thinking he was one of them "
She explained to her daughter who frowned at the story
" Then why didn't he explain to the police himself so they can release him ? After all he's also a victim he was at the wrong place at the wrong time "
She asked feeling a bit wrong for her brother
" Am quite sure he did because the last call I received before hurrying here was that he had try to explaining to them and they had asked him to bail himself out with ( 100 ) thousand "
She dropped the bomb which startled Anita whom pupils shook in rage this was actually a good robbery at day time at such economy
" Mother I will inform my husband he's a lawyer and will handle the case my brother will surely be release without dropping a dime "
She voiced out her option only to receive yelling
" No ! no ! no ! "
" What do you mean no mother this is a great opportunity in helping brother after all your son in law is a lawyer "
She try to reason only to receive a trouble sigh
" Anita dear you worried about your brother however what about your husband don't forget he's also a patient "
She reminded Anita who soon remember feeling ashamed of herself
" Don't worry I will send 50 thousand for now since it's what I have "
She sighed worriedly at the thought of the money it wasn't that she didn't have enough, is just that her account was a joint account with her husband and wouldn't dare to touch it without talking about it with him , as for the money she was sending to her mom was the private account she had opened personally and was just saving a few cash there for Barnabas tablet which she had promised him to buy .
" Alright I be waiting then "
With that she hang up smoothly without any hesitation leaving Anita a bit worried as she hurry into her opay account sending the transaction without blinking and finally showed a relief smile the moment it shows successful .
Calling her mother yet again to inform her about the money she send just few seconds ago
" Hello mother I already send fifty to you I will find a way to send the other so don't worry about brother okay "
She informed coolly only to receive laughter from the other line which somehow bought a sign of joy deep down inside her
" Anita you are truly a good sister let me quickly go there now your brother will be pleased "
She voiced out her excitement hanging up not giving her time to say more she could only shook her head helplessly at such thought but soon her attention was attracted by the sudden knock which got her attention thinking it might be the nurse she reply
" Come in "
She informed sliding her phone back into her purse while adjusting her blanket only to be surprised to find a total stranger walk in dressed formal and holding a suitcase
" Who are you ? "
She asked a bit alarm at the stranger who glance at her indifferently
" Is this Mr Moses wife room "
He asked coldly her from answering
" Am here for your husband where is he ? "
He asked boldly only for her to raise her eyebrows at his rude tone .
