Amelia PoV

As our wagon continued to make its way to Taisho City, I used a pair of far seeing lenses that Amaya's husband had made. With them, our already keen vision was even more enhanced, allowing me to take in the sprawling landscape ahead.

I scanned the desert for signs of ancient ruins like those that Raikū had described in the writings he had left behind, or had iconography like the shard of pottery that had been passed down Vadim's family.

"See anything?" Vadim asked, smiling softly. The shine in his blue eyes had returned.

I held the far-seeing lenses up, glancing back at him. "Not yet, but let's see if you have better luck." I carefully handed them to him, feeling the weight of our shared quest in that small gesture.

He looked around and hummed. "I don't see anything but sand dunes and stripes of green where the irrigation canals are."

"Then we shall go to Taisho to find some clues," Amaya said, undisuaded by this development. 

I nodded. "Sounds like a good idea."
