The silk. That damned silk. The moment I saw it draped across Lilith's disheveled form, a cold fist clenched in my gut. It wasn't just any robe; it was the robe. The one I'd spent hours searching for, the one I'd envisioned Alayna wearing, the soft lavender perfectly complementing her warm eyes. A symbol. A promise. A piece of my heart offered to her.
And there it was, carelessly worn by her sister, like it was nothing more than a discarded rag.
Rage, hot and sharp, threatened to consume me. Betrayal, a bitter taste on my tongue. But beneath the anger, a deeper, more insidious emotion began to fester: doubt. Had I misjudged Alayna?
