The woman's shoulders slumped, her head bowed. "Yes," she admitted, her voice barely audible. "My name is Evelyn Hayes. But I don't know why you think I'm friends with Lilith. I haven't seen her in years."
"Don't lie to me, Evelyn," I said, my voice hardening. "I know you're connected to Lilith. I saw you together at the Government Hall. But I also see the ambition in your eyes, the hunger for power. You're not just a friend of Lilith, are you? You're something more."
