Chapter 799 - Chapter 796 Killing Intent

At this moment, Parkin still hadn't given up on his plans and was continuing to search for targets inside the city.

He quickly found a candidate—a cat beastkin.

He casually approached to ask for directions. One had to admire Parkin; relying on his profound swindling skills, he quickly struck up a seemingly pleasant conversation with the cat beastkin.

The cat beastkin would sometimes get excited, sometimes frown, and sometimes reveal expressions of disgust. He nodded repeatedly, apparently strongly agreeing with Parkin's words.

However, this scene was witnessed by agents conducting secret surveillance, which immediately puzzled them. These agents were personnel sent by Mina to investigate; they belonged to a special division within the Security Department dedicated solely to intelligence gathering and monitoring suspicious individuals.

They had quickly cross-examined the detained beastkin, ruling out possibilities one by one, until they finally discovered that all of these beastkin had been in contact with a single person: Parkin.

With a specific target, tracking him down was much easier. They soon located Parkin in the city and tailed him all the way. Through their surveillance, they indeed noticed Parkin acting quite sneakily, constantly whispering to various beastkin.

"I'll eavesdrop," One of the investigators said in a low voice. He then walked out openly, pretending to just pass by them, but his ears were perked up, listening intently.

"Join our Luminous Creed. The Divine Lord is generous and magnanimous. He will accept beastkin and protect you from human deception..." The investigator frowned. He only managed to catch this one sentence, but to avoid raising suspicion, he didn't linger and walked away.

"So he is the one causing trouble! Damn it, he's trying to destroy the City Lord's hard work!" Upon returning, the investigator relayed what he had heard, immediately striking a chord of fiery rage among his peers.

Sedona City's current prosperity was entirely thanks to Lucas's development efforts. For someone to try to shatter this balance was an unforgivable sin.

"Let me go grab him and beat the living daylights out of him!" One person couldn't hold back and wanted to go thrash Parkin immediately.

"Don't be impulsive. Lady Mina ordered us not to act rashly. Don't ruin the City Lord's grand plans," Another person whispered, holding him back.

"I was just saying. I just can't stomach this," The man said indignantly.

These were all professionally trained agents; naturally, they wouldn't commit such a rookie mistake. Their mission was to uncover the truth without being detected by the target—this was a basic skill for professional investigators.

"I'll go report to Lady Mina. Do not act without orders." One of the men silently retreated and headed toward the castle, while the others continued their surveillance.

...

At the castle, the investigator found Mina and relayed the findings of their investigation, handing over the testimonies gathered from the beastkin as well.

"Parkin? That old human man they brought back?" A chilling killing intent flashed through Mina's eyes.

For Parkin to do this, he clearly intended to instigate a fallout between beastkin and humans again. If a riot broke out, given the number of beastkin in Sedona City, massive chaos would be inevitable. The master's hard work would all go to waste.

Mina absolutely refused to let that happen.

"Dismissed. Keep a close eye on him, but do not make a move. Await my orders." Mina nodded, instructing the investigator to maintain surveillance. She then headed to the castle's study to report her findings to Lucas.

"Oh, so you're saying everything that happened over the past two days is connected to Parkin?" Lucas's eyes narrowed slightly as he listened to Mina's report.

"Yes. That old man is behind all of it," Mina nodded.

"What? Parkin is the one behind this?" Ayesha couldn't sit still upon hearing this. She never expected the truth of the matter to involve the old man she had brought back.

Thinking back to how Ryan, Obi, and the others had kindly saved him and brought him to Sedona City, only for him to stir up so much trouble, she felt a profound surge of regret.

"How interesting. This religious fraud is trying to instigate a rebellion among the beastkin. It seems he still hasn't given up on his goal to preach in Sedona City," Lucas said, a cold gleam in his eyes.

"Master, I'll go capture him." Mina's eyes were equally cold. Fortunately, they discovered this early; otherwise, the consequences would have been disastrous.

"Interrogate him. We should be able to squeeze out some quite interesting information," Lucas ordered calmly.

"Yes." Mina nodded, turning to leave. She was going to handle this personally.

"Master, I..." Seeing Mina leave, Ayesha looked at Lucas, feeling somewhat embarrassed. After all, it was her group that had brought Parkin into the city.

"You did very well this time, spotting the problem early." Lucas knew exactly what she wanted to say. But the cow-horned girl couldn't be blamed for this. In fact, if not for her, they might not have noticed the issue in time.

He chuckled lightly, "As for everything else, don't overthink it."

He couldn't read minds; how was he supposed to know who intended to harm whom?

"Mhm..." Ayesha nodded, a warm feeling blossoming in her eyes.

.........

As night fell, in a courtyard in the northern district of Sedona City, Parkin sat surrounded by eight or nine beastkin. They were listening to him preach endlessly about the Yadian Kingdom and the Luminous Creed.

Fervent fanaticism shone in the eyes of these beastkin. They were clearly accustomed to this and had obviously been here before; otherwise, they wouldn't have been so thoroughly brainwashed.

"The Divine Lord will grant you freedom and boundless wealth. As long as you submit to the Divine Lord, you will obtain everything you desire." Parkin looked at the believers before him with immense smugness, deeply admiring his own capabilities.

However, Parkin was clearly not satisfied with this minor success. Relying on himself alone, it would be extremely difficult to fully establish the Luminous Creed in Sedona City. He needed helpers.

The letter should have reached the Yadian Kingdom by now. Soon, Sedona City will plunge into chaos. When they send people over, we can establish ourselves right away, making our missionary work much easier.

Parkin grew excited internally. He turned to the crowd and proclaimed passionately, "Believe in the Divine Lord! One day, the Divine Lord will grant you eternal life and take you away from here, freeing you from the deception of humans forever!"

Not all beastkin had let go of their hatred; some still harbored deep resentment toward humans. This was one of the reasons why Parkin's brainwashing had succeeded.

"Whether the Divine Lord will take you away, I don't know. But I do know that right now, you are coming with me."

Suddenly, a cold, indifferent voice echoed from outside the courtyard.

Tramp, tramp, tramp...

Several agile figures vaulted over the courtyard wall. Each held a weapon, glaring coldly at Parkin and the beastkin.

Mina stepped slowly out of the shadows, naked killing intent burning in her eyes.
