In Sedona City, at noon, the sounds of clamor erupted in the streets.
At the entrance to the shadow play screening hall, humans and beastkin were fiercely arguing about something, surrounded by a large crowd of onlookers.
"I said Tang Monk is the strongest, so he's the strongest!" A young human man glared furiously at the dog beastkin opposite him, his face written with utter reverence for Tang Monk.
"Bullshit! Sun Wukong is obviously the strongest!" The dog beastkin yelled back, equally furious.
"You're the one spouting bullshit! Even Sun Wukong couldn't resist Tang Monk's Tightening Crown Spell, so he is the strongest!"
"That's utter dog shit... wait, no. Sun Wukong could wreak havoc in the Heavenly Palace! Could Tang Monk do that?" The dog beastkin argued back. It was only mid-curse that he remembered he was a dog beastkin, making cursing with "dog shit" seem rather inappropriate.
"Hahaha, beastkin are so stupid! You even curse yourselves!" The young man burst into laughter, completely unfazed by the beastkin's murderous glare.
"You're asking for a beating! You've successfully pissed me off!" The furious dog beastkin lunged forward directly, throwing punches at the young man.
"Who's afraid of who? I've been sick of looking at you anyway!" Not backing down, the young man rolled up his sleeves and started fighting with the dog beastkin.
The scene instantly plunged into chaos. The spectators on the sidelines didn't mind the disorder and started shouting:
"Hit him! Hit him! Sun Wukong, who is a beastkin, is obviously the strongest!" Some beastkin shouted.
"Bullshit! Tang Monk is the most powerful!" The other humans couldn't stand by either and retorted.
"Beat him up! These beastkin don't know what's good for them!"
A simple verbal argument quickly escalated into chaos. The onlookers started hurling vicious insults at one another, eventually devolving into an outright group brawl.
Not far away, Bishop Parkin was hiding in the crowd, watching the show with a look of smug satisfaction in his eyes.
For some time now, the old Parkin had been strolling around Sedona City. From time to time, he would pull aside a beastkin to brainwash them, preaching about the greatness of the Yadian Kingdom.
At first, Parkin hit walls everywhere, but eventually, some people were actually swayed by his deceitful words and began to follow the Divine Lord Church.
The reason Parkin chose to target beastkin was because their minds and thoughts were relatively simple, making his success rate much higher.
He needed followers. That way, when it was time to negotiate with Lucas, he would have some leverage.
Parkin had witnessed the development of Sedona City firsthand, which made him all the more astounded. It was truly changing by the day.
Right now, Sedona City is undergoing massive renovations everywhere. The old districts had been demolished and rebuilt, and there wasn't a single slum to be found in the entire city.
Because of this, he was even more determined in his desire to preach here. To spread his religion, he naturally needed to establish a church and reel in believers.
These few beastkin were the ones swayed by Parkin. Their faith in Lucas's governance had begun to waver, and naturally, their goodwill toward humans began to vanish. The moment a minor conflict arose, they completely lost control and started a riot.
This chaos was a direct gift from Parkin. By muddying the waters, he made some beastkin start harboring resentment toward humans.
"Riot, go on and riot. The bigger the mess, the better. When the time is right, I'll make my grand entrance," Parkin muttered to himself inwardly. The bigger the riot, the easier it would be to convince those beastkin to become believers of his Divine Lord Church and serve his purposes.
Once he had these believers, establishing a firm foothold in Sedona City wouldn't be a problem at all.
"What's going on here? Stop it, all of you!" Suddenly, a furious roar echoed from outside the crowd.
Soon after, the crowd parted, and Ayesha angrily marched over, holding her Overlord Spear.
The beastkin siding with the dog beastkin didn't stop, still intent on fighting.
"Fighting in public? Arrest them all!" Ayesha frowned. With a wave of her hand, the patrol officers trailing behind her charged forward, separating the fighting groups and tying them up immediately.
"What exactly happened?" Ayesha asked in a deep voice, her brows knitted.
The manager of the screening hall immediately stepped forward and recounted the events to Ayesha. He had been terribly distressed about these people causing trouble at his entrance and didn't know what to do. He hadn't expected her to arrive just in time.
"You started a fight over something this trivial?" Ayesha's frown deepened. Over the past two days, she had handled many such brawls. In every case, both sides started fighting over petty disagreements. This left her highly bewildered.
"You're a beastkin, yet you're helping the humans? What a disgrace!" The dog beastkin yelled, even while being restrained.
"Cut the crap! Watch it, or I'll send you to the mines!" Ayesha didn't hold back and swung her Overlord Spear, delivering a solid thwack to his head. Unsurprisingly, the dog beastkin's eyes rolled back, and he passed out on the spot.
The corner of Parkin's mouth twitched, and a shiver ran down his spine. He cursed inwardly at how ruthless woman was. If that strike had landed on his own head, he probably would have died.
"Alright, everyone disperse," Ayesha waved her Overlord Spear and ordered the onlookers.
With no more spectacle to watch, the crowd naturally scattered.
"Ruined my good deed again. It seems I'll have to plan this out more carefully," Parkin muttered in frustration upon seeing his plan fall through. He followed the dispersing crowd and slipped away, not wanting to catch Ayesha's attention.
Ayesha ordered her men to take the troublemakers back to the Security Department, while she herself headed toward the castle. After the events of the past two days, she decided it was best to report to Lucas.
She had already sensed that something was amiss. Basically, every single disturbance was initiated by beastkin, and always over trivial matters.
Ayesha was straightforward, but she wasn't stupid. One or two incidents could be written off as coincidence, but four or five consecutive incidents involving beastkin meant something highly unusual was going on.
Knock, knock, knock...
"Master, are you in?" Ayesha asked, knocking on the door to Lucas's study in the castle.
"Come in."
Creak...
Receiving permission, Ayesha pushed open the door. She saw Lucas holding a pen; he seemed to have just been writing something. Beside him, Mina was teasing Caesar.
"Ayesha, what's wrong? You look unhappy." Lucas looked at the cow-horned girl, noticing her depressed expression.
"It's like this..." Ayesha recounted all the incidents that had occurred over the past two days.
"Is that so..." Lucas's brows furrowed slightly after listening, falling into deep thought.
"Master, there's definitely something wrong here." Mina also realized the severity of the problem.
If the beastkin continued rioting like this, the peaceful balance between humans and beastkin in Sedona City would quickly be shattered.
"Mina, send someone to investigate this," Lucas said in a deep voice.
"Yes." Mina swayed her hips and left.
