Chapter 181 - A discussion concering matters of survival!

Three figures came into view.

A dark purple haired girl eating with unmatched fervor. Her eyes were wide open, her face full of bliss as she shoved mouthfuls of food down her throat.

She seemed like a bright and cheerful girl. However, Mei felt a sense of…repulsion from her.

Her indigo eyes passed the dark-purple-haired and moved to the next figure-

A white-haired girl in a school uniform eating elegantly with impeccable manners. She looked oddly familiar- like they had met before.

'This…No…..'

From the depths of her soul, Mei felt a pulse of familiarity with this white-haired girl. It was very, very muted. But it was enough to feel weird.

Click

Though all her observations were shift and brief, she couldn't hide her entrance.

The creak of the door made all of them pause, shifting their gaze towards the figure that intruded- her.

Feeling three pairs of eyes staring at her with scrutiny, curiosity, wariness, determination, and….affection? Mei only felt numb.

Wait.

Affection?

That's right. The silver-haired boy is looking at her with barely concealed familiarity and affection.

"Finally awake?"

The white-haired girl with a single ponytail was the first one to speak up. She raised an eyebrow, blue eyes scanning the foreign intruder's figure with deep scrutiny and curiosity.

The girl's voice registered in Mei's ears. However, she ignored it. Instead, her light violet eyes were blankly staring at the only boy in the room.

"....."

A brief silence fell over them. The atmosphere was frozen, with nobody moving or speaking.

The dark purple-haired girl who was eating with enthusiasm had already put down the food. Instead, she was staring at the sane Herrscher with a mix of curiosity and trepidation.

She didn't speak up, nor did she make any other motions. This dark purple-haired girl, who still wore that torn-up school uniform, merely fixed her eyes on the 3rd Herrscher.

"Hello."

Amidst the awkward silence, Adam spoke up with a smile.

"Come." The silver-haired boy gently patted the seat right next to him- which was conveniently empty. "Sit."

As one expectant and two probing stares bore into her, Mei hung her head low. Wordlessly, she followed his instructions and walked towards the seat, settling right beside him.

…..

"As we have already said:"

Twirling his fork around, Adam started as all people finally sat in one singular place.

To his right sat Mei with a blank expression, hands on her thighs. She didn't seem intent on touching the already prepared food in front of her.

To his left sat Kiana with her arms crossed under her chest. Her expression is serious, face utterly focused as though she has entered 'tactical mode.'

Kyuusyou sat opposite to him. Though on the surface she seemed equally as serious, her twitching fingers that gravitated towards the fork and knife betrayed her inner thoughts.

A depressed girl, a lazy savior who's more focused on the food than him, and the only actual competent person….

He had his work cut out for him. To survive, they need to work together.

"We need to wait for reinforcements." He spared a glance at Kiana. "Though I don't know how this Shickshal works, they should already have detected the Eruption here. Logic dictates that they have already sent reinforcements."

At least, the Shickshal of his world operated like this. With their technology, they could instantly detect Eruptions and send reinforcements swiftly- their modes of transportation were quick, too.

Of course, if Bianka felt really pumped up that day, she could potentially arrive at a point of Eruption even quicker by just flying there with her Valkyrie Armor.

"That's right." Kiana nodded in agreement. "Shickshal should already have sent reinforcements now, and normally, they'd already have arrived…."

"But?"

Being extraordinarily perceptive at this moment, the dark purple-haired girl interrupted from the side.

"-But when this Eruption happened, communications went out. And anything electrical followed suit." The white-haired girl added as she frowned, her eyebrows furrowing. "But it's still weird. They should have detected the honkai energy, so why haven't they come yet?"

A solemn expression crossed her face. Though she has a decent understanding of this organization since both of her parents were members of it- she is really puzzled right now.

"Maybe a honkai eruption also appeared in their headquarters."

The boy's casual and lightly joking voice echoed throughout the place.

"What? No matter how unlikely it is, the chance isn't zero."

Feeling everyone's stare- even Mei's dull one- the silver-haired boy shrugged nonchalantly.

He was just guessing. And to him, the possibility didn't sound ridiculous. After all, this universe is GGZ. Anything could happen.

However, would a honkai eruption truly occur at St.Freya right this moment? That was very doubtful.

"...Maybe."

The white-haired girl's lip twitched, but she didn't say anything else.

"Ah, whatever!"

Kyuusyou suddenly shouted out of nowhere, her fists gently landing on the table.

"Whatever enemies come, this Savior shall vanquish them all!" She stood up abruptly, eyes blazing with a fiery determination. "Nobody can stop us from returning to our eternal haven!"

At those words, Kiana softly facepalmed.

"...Please ignore this girl." The Kaslana said stiffly as she turned to speak to the low-key Herrscher. "She has a good heart; however, she has a bit of a problem and always likes to speak nonsense."

"HEY-!"

"Truly…" Ignoring the chuuni's girl voice of protest, Kiana continued with embarrassment showing on her face. "Pay her no heed."

"..."

The girl who was being spoken to blankly looked at Kiana and Kyuusyou, her expression still, akin to a certain famous 'dead fish eyes' protagonist.

"Ahem! As I was saying-"

The only boy present coughed forcefully, eyes twitching as he tried to get the conversation back on track.

"We aren't sure how much this 'honkai attack protection' duration will last." His gaze shifted towards the purple-haired Herrscher, who looked back at him. "So we need to be cautious and avoid wide open areas. Ideally, we should find high ground and wait until Shickshal people come to pick us up."

Honkai, after all, is adaptable. Especially in this universe. Thinking they can just use Mei as a repellent and safely escape the city is too naive! The fact that they managed to get in this house without getting attacked is already a miracle.

The will isn't that generous, either. Would it really let those countless Herrschers that aren't under its control manipulate honkai beasts to their liking?

Certainly not!

"Uhm…" Kyuusyou, now back at her seat and showing no signs of embarrassment from her previous antic, raised her hand as if she were a student in a class. "Can't we just go back to the Senba rooftop?"

Adam tilted his head at that, and Mei's expression sank.

"No…."

The purple-haired Herrscher spoke up with a hoarse voice. Her first words since coming with them were a firm denial.

"...."

Her reaction caused a gloomy silence to descend upon this room.

All people present were well aware that becoming a Herrscher (in this world) is never a good thing.

Not only did she personally kill some of her classmates, but she was also indirectly responsible for the deaths of millions. Though it wasn't out of her own will, and it wasn't truly her own fault- it would still weigh in her mind.

To place such a heavy burden upon a teenage girl….The fact that she hasn't already broken down mentally is already is proof of her resilience.

"Her suggestion has merit." Kiana spoke up, eyes closed as she stroked her chin in thought. "It's the center of the Honkai Eruption. Any reinforcements will head there first, so if we're present there, we won't need to use a flare."

She disturbed the gloomy silence and analyzed the chuuni girl's suggestion with pure logic- as she should.

Because yes- in this almost apocalyptic scenario, there's no room for personal feelings. They'll only get in the way. And the four of them certainly don't have the luxury to ignore the consequences.

"This does indeed save us a lot of trouble." He nodded in agreement. "Nice going, Savior!"

He turned towards Kyuusyou and flashed her a thumbs-up.

Right, it was the classic protagonist place. And it was also the most likely place where Himeko would drop in.

"Ehehehe, it's nothing! It's just a trivial matter for this Savior…."

The aforementioned girl bashfully scratched her cheek, her gaze wandering around the room as a light hint of redness crept up her ears.

As Kiana shot her a deadpan stare, Adam's lips twitched upwards. However, he paid no heed to the foolishly giggling savior. Instead, he turned to face the silent Herrscher

"Mei, I'm Adam."

The purple-haired girl flinched as he gently placed his hand on her shoulder. However, she made no move; instead, she stilled.

"This is Kiana."

He extended his arm, pointing at the white-haired girl who waved slightly at the Herrscher's direction.

"And this is Kyuusyou."

Arm making a smooth arc in the air, it finally pointed at the last girl. The self-proclaimed savior gave the gloomy Herrscher a toothy grin.

"I know it might be hard, but we truly need to go there." Tilting his head, he smiled softly. "Of course, if it makes you feel any better….It wasn't your fault. Now, you are what you are only because a selfish and stupid individual planned all this."

Cocodanzo is still Cocodanzo in any world that has the word 'Honkai' in it. Truly a character that is a top-tier friendly fire unit.

"Mn…"

Mei pursed her lips, nodding. She didn't seem convinced, but she said nothing more.

"Well, guys…"

Giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze, Adam turned around and looked at the other two girls.

"Now it's operation: Escape from Nagazora!"

"Sounds cool! Unfortunately, this savior and her companions will have to wait like NPCs in order to escape!"

Kyuusyou, predictably, slumped on her seat after he confirmed their next course of action.

She obviously didn't like it. Perhaps she would have preferred to go guns blazing and just flee the town amidst rampaging honkai beasts and zombies.

He paused, mouth hanging open momentarily at the sheer disappointment radiating off her

"Yes, we'll have to escape from this city by waiting like sitting ducks. So what?"

A/N:

Holy…. There are so many men of culture(degenerates) among us! Mystery Alice is the winner!

I love this girl. There was a period of time when I simped hard for her. It'd be really fun to write her in other worlds.

By the way, yeah, she's from an 18+ game. A lot of people have already recognized her. Though I'm going to disappoint some others: No, she doesn't have anything to do with Eldritch stuff…..

And if you have any additional ideas for potential summons for the story, do tell me!
