Chapter 180 - A rest amongst danger

Meanwhile, in reality, on the rooftop of the Academy-

Golden chains tightened even more around the Herrscher. The skin under the chains reddened lightly from the force.

The Oath of Judah glowed brighter, its central gem blazing as inscriptions along its surface ignited one by one.

The Herrscher of Thunder's eyes trembled just for a moment-

And then the scarlet in them dimmed.

The chains of the cross loosened, and immediately after, they dropped to the ground.

The cross floating behind Adam scattered into golden motes of golden light that dissipated in the wind.

As in perfect harmony, the wings of the Herrscher cracked and shattered. The lightning around her disappeared, and the girl herself swayed and limped.

Her lithe body looked exceptionally fragile at that moment, as if even the wind could affect her-

Adam stepped forward, catching her falling body.

".....a…..h….."

A faint sound escaped the Herrscher's body.

The previously attacking girl's lips shook, and her eyes were half closed.

"You're still conscious?"

The silver-haired boy looked at her trembling body with surprise.

He diluted her connection to that greater will as much as possible, absorbed her energy, and even 'stole' a part of herself by splitting Dr. Mei and making her an independent entity.

And yet despite all that, this girl managed to retain her consciousness. She didn't immediately faint, and she didn't instantly fall into shock.

The girl whose name is Raiden Mei raised her head with difficulty, struggling to look up at him.

"..."

Facing his surprised and curious face, the purple-haired girl who was restored to sanity lightly parted her lips.

"...ank….ou…."

She barely managed to utter. Her lips moved through the motions, yet almost no sound escaped.

But the boy opposite of her understood what she wanted to convey-

'Thank you.'

"..."

As her jaw slackened and eyelids fluttered, the silver-haired boy smiled.

"You're welcome."

Adam whispered lightly. Softly, almost tenderly, he raised a hand, moving a purple strand of hair behind her ear with his index and middle finger.

Drip.

Few droplets of water escaping and dropping onto the ground, the girl's eyes finally shut closed. Her body leaned forward, wet cheeks impacting his coat.

The silver-haired boy closed his eyes briefly, letting an arm wrap around the waist of the girl and hold her in place.

"Done."

Lips curled upward, Adam turned his gaze towards his two spectating companions-

"Waaahhhh!"

Kyuusyou burst into tears, her hands clasped over her heart as her body slumped.

"Girl tainted by evil, your sacrifice shall be remembered!" Two clear lines of liquid trailed down her cheeks as she shouted passionately. "Since you repented in the end, please rest peacefully!"

"Huh?!"

Kiana, her arms crossed under her chest and watching the exchange between Adam and Mei with intense focus, sharply turned her head at the dark-purple-haired girl's words.

"My companions, you shouldn't weep!" Seeing her reaction, Kyuusyou seemed even sadder. "In war, casualties are…inevitable."

The dark purple-haired girl hung her head low, hands hanging off both her sides as sorrow crept into her normally determined expression.

"Why the long face, dear savior?" Adam's lips twitched as he looked at the sad girl. "She isn't dead."

-And with these mere words, the seemingly solemn atmosphere shattered just like that.

"EH?!"

..

.

Exiting the school was far simpler than any of them had thought.

With the main leader- the Herrscher- nowhere to be seen, the honkai beasts and honkai zombies stopped being so aggressive.

Or rather, since their 'Empress' and their source of power disappeared, escaping from them became rather easy.

And surprisingly, with Mei Raiden with them, these lower-level honkai lifeforms didn't attack them on sight. As long as they stayed a safe distance away from them, they weren't bothered by these lowly creatures.

Adam felt that it was quite weird- Kiana too. But they both didn't comment. It was strange to him, but since he was in GGZ, anything could happen- and he'd have to accept it.

The white-haired girl, on the other hand…She didn't have enough experience. She has never participated in a honkai eruption, and her parents never told her about such details when narrating stories.

Kyuusyou…She was just a slightly 'special' schoolgirl before the eruption. Though she found it weird that previous attacking enemies didn't jump at them, currently, her entire focus was on the weight at her back.

-And so, with the self-proclaimed savior carrying the sleeping Herrscher, and with the transmigrator and the Kaslana warrior standing guard in the front and the rear respectively, they reached shelter.

And their shelter, of course, was the closest and biggest house-

..

.

"Phew…"

Kyuusyou breathed a sigh of exhaustion as she lay down the sleeping Mei on one of the beds.

The apostle of evil remained sleeping throughout the whole deal. Even when Honkai zombies were surrounding them from all around, this girl still remained peacefully unconscious.

"Why is this evil, corrupted woman so heavy!" Grumbling under her breath, she slumped down on the sofa. "This Savior is exhausted!"

Carrying Mei was a necessity for her companions to always be combat-ready. Though she would have preferred to passionately fight and protect her companions- this was indeed also a Savior's duty!

However, she smiled. Now that she can finally lie down and relax without the threat of any evil spawns, she shall have a great time!

"Oi, lazy savior!"

Just as she finally relaxed, a male voice came from the kitchen.

Kyuusyou's face stiffened.

Though it was her dear companion's voice urging her, she had no desire to respond and get up. Right at this moment, nothing could make this savior get off her seat and interrupt her lazing time-

"Food is ready!"

"Food!?"

The dark purple-haired girl's eyes lit up, her mood instantly changing.

That's right!

After such hard work, wasn't she entitled to some good food?

Erm, no! Just for the sake of her body's needs, she shall make an exception!

-She thought so as she jumped from the sofa and ran towards the kitchen with bouncing steps.

..

.

Mei Raiden slowly opened her eyes.

She felt groggy. Her light violet eyes ached, and her head felt heavy.

"...."

Looking down at the blanket covering most of her body, memories flooded her mind.

One moment, she was getting bullied as always, and then the next, her thoughts blanked out, and her vision turned bright.

Her consciousness had faded. She could very briefly recall the sensations and the actions of her body, but they were all fragmented.

Three blurry figures appeared in her vision. She was about to attack one, but then-

A hand reached out, and her awareness faded entirely. An almost peaceful sleep overtook her. However-

Instantly after, an unfamiliar pain erupted all around her. Her mind felt as though tearing apart. Her whole being felt empty, and it felt like something was violently ripped away from her existence.

After fully recalling everything, Mei stared blankly at the ceiling.

Her thoughts felt frozen, unable to move.

Her body felt a bone-chilling coldness piercing through her entire being. She felt hollow and empty.

Eyelids twitching, her eyes moved back up to that unfamiliar ceiling. Currently, she neither has the desire nor the ability and energy to move and investigate her surroundings.

"..."

Will biting her own tongue actually work-

"..an….."

Her ears perked up, picking up the faint sounds of conversations. They were coming from a few rooms away.

Slowly, almost mechanically, she pushed herself up, shifting her body and propping her legs to the ground.

With difficulty, she exerted strength with her feet and made her body stand straight. Though she swayed- in the end, she didn't fall.

"..."

With a trembling step, she took a deep breath and started walking towards the source of these sounds.

"Our position….is…..at the moment…."

As she opened the door of the room she found herself waking up to, the voices became clearer.

"Wait…..Until….."

As she stepped forward, she began to hear the distinct sounds of conversation.

"This Savior shall….all…..!"

After a short walk, she finally reached the door to the kitchen. Right behind it was the source of the intermingling voices.

Standing in front of the wooden door, Mei hesitated for a moment.

However, in the end, she extended a hand….and weakly pushed open the door as she prepared to step forward.

A/N:

I'm planning to incorporate yet another summon. Of course, it'd be after Adam leaves GGZ, and he won't summon someone the same way he summoned Olivia.

I've got some candidates here:

*Tohru(Dragon Maid)

*Kisara(Kiss devil)

*Yue(Arifureta)

*Alice(Mystery. I'm not telling where she's from)

Most likely, all these four will eventually be summoned over the course of the entire fanfiction. Right now, I'm just not sure on the order.

So let's do a vote! Readers, who should be summoned this time?
