James and Angel were in the outskirts as they stood in the treeline. Planning each of their moves slowly, both pointed at each small house on the perimeter of the first plot of land. Night would aide them in their stealth as the two crept forward. Neither made a sound as James slowly unjammed the first door as Angel went to the next building.
It creaked open as James slowly motioned inward, bewildered by a smell of rancid egg. He held back momentarily as he went forward through the building as he spotted a few hybrids, their ram horns curled as they snorted at him. James motioned with his hand for them to follow him. Each ram held pause, escape sounded pleasing, but capture would mean their end. James let a soft glow from his aura flicker in the room. The respect was mutual as they gave a silent nod of agreement. James led them out of the building as one of them picked up a swaddle of blankets.
James pinpointed it to the source of the smell. Someone was decaying in front of them and they were left to rot by the humans, the only disgust that filled James was that of the human mindset and the owner of the plantation. His fists balled in anger as he led them to the evacuation truck. One down, six to go.
Angel fared a much easier time, she shimmed the door open and smiled as the scent of flowers filled her nose. Four bee hybrids stood with their pixelated eyes and aroma that filled the building. She waved her hand to lead them out, their compliance was immediate. They did not hesitate with the battle angel, they know she was their hope.
Angel led them to the treeline, getting in with the rams as the truck drove away. Angel turned and pivoted her head. It all seemed too simple and easy for both of them to just move through the moonlight and not face any resistance. She looked around as the truck sped off. Hopefully it was just her mind playing tricks.
James stood at the door of the third building; it wouldn't budge with the weak amount of force he applied. One gentle tug and it came off the hinges as boards were barricaded across the front. The rusted nails in the board shot through as James held the door to block it. James looked across as it was a family of five mice, the smallest holding his hand up as the nails hovered around him. Gently setting the door down he dropped to his knees and extended an arm.
The kid made a quiet squeak as he hid behind his mother. The nails clattering on the ground, James had a smile that filled the room. His presence made the kid peek his head around as James looked at removing the boards. He pulled the nails as James caught them, the kid rushing to his leg and hugging it. Setting them to the side he ruffled the kids hair as the family slipped by.
A scotche of worry filled his mind, this one had powers and a highly useful one, he couldn't be found no matter the cost. Thinking for a moment he hoisted the kid into his arms and carried him to the truck and set him in the front seat. His safety was a priority, where else would be better for him. He looked into the kids eyes and squeezed his cheeks. He hopped down as the kid looked into the back seeing his family.
Content James gave a strong wave as he wandered in the direction of the next building, farther out of the way than the rest. A deep sigh of relief was let out as all James became surrounded by were trees. The soft coos of owls and the chirping of crickets filled the air. Silence spoke volumes for him. The burden of it all let him not enjoy the moment in nature.
Angel's unease didn't falter as she arrived at the fourth house, the boarded up windows and the padlocks on the outside door didn't worry her about them wanting to leave, it became an issue of getting in. One slice of her spear shattered the shackles. She smiled as someone bursted through the door. Splinters were sent flying as a burly bear charged through. She looked directly at Angel and saw the frilly skirt and all black battle outfit. A soft scoff was let out as she smiled.
Angel pointed to the treeline and gave them a small piece of paper, a map to where the truck was as the lady snatched it from her hands. She looked back inside and handed it to a meek looking man who was half her size. He read it and nodded as seven people funneled out of the building. Charging out as no one had noticed their efforts yet. The glow and hope of it all helped her, lifting off the ground she sailed around the air to the next building.
Landing in the doorway she felt grim, there was no door. Peeking inside she smiled to see people all huddled around a fireplace. They looked at her then back to the fireplace. Their comfort had conformed them like cattle. Angel hunched over in confusion, walked closer and waved her arms for them to follow her. No motion stirred them, not a muscle moved. Locked down not by force; by personal imprisonment, they all constantly ignored Angel as she tapped her boots on the ground rapidly.
They waved her away as she got mad. With a bright flash of her aura she looked directly at the herded group. "If all you care for is comfort and conformity over freedom and expression of choice. Don't let me stop you. But throwing away your only choice at freedom is wasteful as almost not trying." She stormed out as they all watched her. No care in the world as one black sheep followed her out. The large wooly afro sat still as Angel felt a tug before she was to leave. Looking down she giggled a little bit. "You are safe with me Little Lamb." She heaved her into her arms and flew high into the sky.
Sailing around for a moment had the sheep savor the breath of fresh air. Freedom feels better from a few hundred feet off the ground. She outreached her arms and flew like a plane in the air as Angel's warmth was shared to the lamb. Slowly circling the truck she descended and set the lamb in the back. A happy smile filled the truck as the rest of the truck. Angel set off for the last flight of the night.
James opened the last door as he was greeted by two humans. The hybrids behind them bound by ropes, covered in see through cloth as they had nothing on beneath. They were on display to be humiliated. His mind wandered with thousands of ideas as the humans dove at him. He clanged their heads together as they both were knocked out. He pulled them inside as both of the roped bunnies watched in fear. James unbound them and took off their cloth coverings and gave them his hoodie and shirt.
He pulled the clothes off of both humans and handed them over to the rabbits as they accepted it. He began to tie them up with the rope they had used. The two in the back giggled as James tightened the ropes on all the right spots and put them up in awkward poses. He took a picture of the two humans with each rabbit on his sides. He sent it to Dante and sent a text.
'All is going well, we have hundreds of pictures of all the evidence. I can only imagine what Angel has captured with her flights.' He escorted them to the truck as now all he could do would be waiting for Angel.
She arrived at the last house and crept up the stairs as they were all asleep. She softly shook them awake as they all moved as sloths. But for cheetah standards that became an issue once the sun slowly crept onto the horizon. They would have to begin whatever job they have soon, Angel stood on the top of the house as they slipped out the back door and sprinted to the truck. She waited and watched with the camera rolling on the chimney, capturing her and the main house in frame.
The humans emerged as they all stopped and stared at Angel. She held her hands behind her back with her spear idle. Leaning backwards she fell and snagged her phone before flying off into the treeline. Tucking and turning to the truck as it shut the back door with her landing inside. It drove off to the docs to begin step two.
