Chapter 320 - Adventure of Astral Part 61.5: The New Kid

"He was captured in a fight, between Bane and his two assistants, they did really well on shutting him down and capitalizing on his stature. His glove feels like its either made of one million pounds or weightless. They are powered by tiny little hypercompressed elemental capsules. I think his ability is two fold, one half making the magic happen, and the other making the magic." Angel slid through her photos and found his entry. "Apparently he is a chameleon hybrid, but they aren't sure."

"You wouldn't happen to have a picture of him in the pod by himself then. With normal looking human colors, right?" Dante peeked his head from the stairway.

"Here take my phone and go crazy." Angel handed it over to Dante as he stumbled up the stairs as fast as he could. They all watched in wonder and envy as they wanted to see how much he could do.

"He is fully drained of everything, there is vitals, but such low energy, heartbeat is low, breathing is light. All of it. Nothing is making sense about him currently." Rosie shrugged as she kept looking. "James, get over here." He tilted his head. "Now!"

Her shout startled most of them. James crawled over slowly as Angel began to look at the outfits that Amanda had brought over. "What do you want me to do?" He slithered to his feet and popped upwards.

She paused for a moment. "I don't quite know, just, rest your hand on his head and do what feels right." She waved him to step closer as he waddled the extra few steps. He reached out as his cyan aura glowed softly. Extending his grasp into his hair as a flicker of yellow appeared.

"He is drained, devoid of any and all aura, he can't, won't get any back unless we jumpstart him." James yanked his hand back as he felt a voice that wasn't his seemingly escape from his mouth. The static wearing on his hands. They all looked at him strangely.

Desmond stepped forward. "Angel what happened at that facility?" He reached for the child as it swatted his hand with a trace amount of energy and explosive movement. They all stood motionless.

"He put us under invisibility before we left the test room. Maybe he pushed himself too far and is too weak to gain it back himself." Angel rested her hand on his cheek as the soft yellow glow returned.

"You may be able to push my brother around, but not me." She looked at her stacks as she slid a stack into his cheek. His breaths became more full as Rosie felt a stronger heart beat. Giving a thumbs up as she slowly backs away.

Angel removed her hand as he opened his eyes to see so many people. "Why did you save me?" He asked sheepishly as he held his golden fist to protect his face. "You made it easier to finish us off. "Sharing secrets with humans in a vain hope they help?" He hissed as his skin morphed to the dull grey table he was on.

"We can always send you back out there to face Bane by yourself, and tell me." James stood over the child. "How did that work last time?" He froze as James towered over him. He crawled back on the table to escape as James lightly held his shirt. "I do not agree with your statement, humans are bad. But in a war of information, they are the best we have."

"All they have done for me is betray me. One human granted me amazing powers and illusions of strength. He gave me the gauntlet on my wrist but it is a curse not a blessing." He hyperventilated. "I can make so many things and it just wasn't enough to overcome him!"

The twins paused for a moment as they realized they were pressuring the kid too much. "What's your name?" James lorded over his body. He couldn't be much taller than five feet. "Once you eat and get your bearings about you, you can learn more."

"My name is Finnick." He slid into a chair silently as James took a shallow breath. He couldn't be mad at him with how he has acted. He turned black to match the chair, ruffling his hair with his right hand.

Willow walked over to the stovetop where the soup was and began to serve bowls. Angel walked over to help. "Maybe it'll be best for just you two to eat at the table with him. I'll bring Dante his bowl." She had two in her hands as she slowly stretched up the stairs. The others slowly came over and got meals other than Rosie. She sat on the couch and began to scroll her phone.

Angel brought three bowls to the table. Sliding one to each of the boys at the table. "We can eat in silence if you want Finnick. We do have a plan, and the next step of it, is the most fun part yet. Changing the public's opinion of us." She took a soft breath onto her spoonful of soup before hunking down on the spoon.

"How so, all you two are known for so far has been freeing a plantation and killing a lot of people as well as now busting into the facility where the hybrids are kept as test tube objects and experiments." He took a small bite of his soup.

"Because child if I told you not to worry would you?" Dante stood at the end of the stairwell. "Those two are the beauty of this operation. They can get all the bad press they want, but once the truth is revealed. Like what they have done to certain hybrids." Finnick dropped his spoon. "Something is going to crack. It won't be you guys either." He glanced over to the other two. "I think we have a solid enough basis to start the machine up. But I personally want to see how deep this corruption goes before we expose it." He swirled the broth left in his soup.

"You aren't suggesting we break into the government facility."

"Your dad did it, no sense why you two combined can't." Dante cracked a smile like he had solved everything. "We also have images to print in mass. A broadcast to overtake, and maybe a few peaceful freeings of hybrids." Dante giggled as Finnick raised his gauntlet at him.

"So you are using these two as your pawns because you can't fight for yourself?" Finnick's wrist began to glow as Dante sighed. He loosened his shoulder as a bat fell from his back and hit the gauntlet away as he held the barrel to Finnick's skull.

"Those two have more talent than the rest of the world combined. If they didn't want to listen, they wouldn't." Dante chuckled as none of the soup spilled anywhere. "Kid I love you, but I think it would be best for you to relearn some of the basics. I can tell you use your ability as a crutch, and with your stature. I would too!" He smiled as he extended his hand.

"Why would I listen to a human like you?" Finnick snarled.

"Because that is your only choice, learning about us, living with us, either that or I bet someone would be happy to have his prized possession back." Dante winked as he sat frozen.

"I think I'll stay put and stay quiet." Finnick curled into his chair as Dante dropped his head an inch. It'll be on the twins to help him crack. Everyone kept listening to the antics in the kitchen as it winded down.

"I am going home, no adventures for a week James. And that's triple for you kid." Rosie pointed directly at Finnick as he rolled his eyes. She left as did Amanda who hung the clothes up in the hallway staircase.

"I will let you kids sort out your differences by yourselves." He chuckled softly. Exiting and heading to the docs to meet up with Mr. Lark. All that remained was the group of kids. With nothing to do and no one to watch them.

James finished his second bowl and hopped over the couch and turned on the gaming console as Finnick sat next to him. Angel sat next to Finnick as Willow sat at the end. Dante stormed up the stairs to slowly work on the preparations for the next few operations.

"Do you want to learn how to play?" James grabbed a second controller and handed it to him. Finnick caught on instantly. Removing his gauntlet and setting it to the side as the two began to play the game. Angel and Willow watched and whispered about her new wardrobe. The four of them stayed up most of the night enjoying the peacefulness of all of it. Nothing to worry about, no fighting, no drama, and them being able to stay with one another for a full week in peace and harmony.
