Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Big Catch

"mo fang.. would you please stop wasting my baits" song bai voice suddenly resonated across the open ocean, snapping angrily at the hand approaching his bait box where small fishes rest inside.

"this is the tenth one you have wasted, all in the hope of catching something big"

It has already bean five hours since they have left the village into the sea, after riding and casting the fishing net. Mr jay allowed the nets, to set for something before riling it in as they rest atop the boat while the boys fish using their hooks.

"song bai… what did you said" feigning ignorance, mo fang replied without withdrawing his hand.

"how am I wasting the baits…. don't you see how I almost caught the big once just now"

"i told you guys I will definitely make a catch today"

"mo beast, stop all those bullshit of yours" fatty sam sneered, while casting his fishing rod into the sea.

"you have already wasted more than 15 fish baits without catching anything"

"hehe… fatty sam how many have you caught already" mo fang sneered back at the two of them before attaching another bait onto his hook, suddenly mo fang shot the fish line far into the distance with all his might.

"what is the use of flinging it so far into the sea" song bai berated mo fang childishness.

"song bai!!, you know nothing about fishing" mo fan boasted

"to become a fishing legend, it is inappropriate to rail your hook close to your position.." mo fang went on and on rambling nonsense about some code of fishing for fishermen.

"you need to keep your eyes open kid, and watch from an expert as myself" shaking his head mo fang concluded, causing the sea to return to silent.

"fuck…..you…" song bai angrily yelled, feeling his chest raise from anger listen to the nonsense the guy was spouting out of his mouth.

"kids you guys should hurry up, as we have few hours to go before returning back home" Mr jay interrupted their agreement as he stared at the two boys.

"but uncle jay… I haven't cat my luck encounter today"

"well mo…. we can't keep waiting for you to catch something before we leave the sea right?" before Mr jay could replied, fatty sam said laughing at the depressed fella.

"mmm" nodding his head, Mr jay returned to his position at the end of the fish boat deck.

"mo fang.. you have two more hours, to catch what ever lucky encounters you have" his voiced resounded as he went back to taking his nap.

"after that we are leaving the sea, regardless if either you make a catch or not"

"okay, uncle jay" mo fang replied in depression.

"you should just give up guy" sam said nodding him with his fat body.

"yes and you need to stop being delusional…" song bai added.

"with your trash luck, I bet you wont even catch a single piece of crap for the next twenty years"

"damn you skinny bai… who the hell are you cursing" mo fang exploded as he cursed angrily at the two of them.

"and you damn fatty… do you believe I will toss you into the see, and see if I can fish you up, if you ever say a cursed word at me again with your short fingers"

"hehehe!!, why don't you try it your… mother fucking thwart"

"fuck you fatty sam…. let your grandpa here catch his fish.. and I would show you what it means to disrespect your elders"

"skinny mo.. whose elder are you" sam replied in anger.

"mo beast… if this lord doesn't deal with you today, you wont know how high the sky is"

As the duo enter into another round of argument, cursing at each other like some ladies at their menopause. Time silently slip away, before they both now it, the times has gone and the sun has begin it final trip across the sky as the golden rays from the evening dusk settles on the sea. Reflecting the golden water more resplendently.

Watching the two boys argue, Mr jay smiled as he could only lament at the boys carefree attitude, while greatly admiring and wished to go back to his youth, as he banter with his friends on the sea.

Life in the golden sun village might, sound and looking amazingly rich and beautiful, but not every one could get to enjoy such said luxuries, and with the constant change of the seasons, usually fishes are either driven into the deep reaches of the sea or deep far beneath the reaches of mankind and their simple machine as they habitat in the deep reaches of the ocean.

Making it difficult for the fishermen with low end fishing equipment to survive in the village, despite the large numbers of fishermen very few truly make great catches, as almost he well to do ones have changed to using of electric fishing tools.

During such seasons fishing activity become less as the deep reaches of the sea are always accompanied with dangerous sea waves, storms and hurricanes. Usually going into such areas of the sea would require the help of seasoned fishermen in groups to maintain the stability of the boat, and navigate back when encountering a sea storm or waves.

As he don't have any one to help him, Mr jay mostly come out with his nephew song bai and his friend to aid him in reeling the fishing net after the it has been cast into the sea.

"you guys should start rounding up, we would soon be railing in the nets!" looking at the disappearing sun Mr jay come out of his stupor as he called out to the boys, while clearing the floor of the floor making room for the fishing net to be railed in.

"uncle jay can you please give me some more time, just a few minute would do" mo fang cried out in frustration.

"little mo… it is already getting late, you should try out your luck some other days" shaking his head, Mr jay pointed at the setting sun.

"but the old monk.. prophesied and promised that I would make a big catch today" mo fang said dropping his hand in anguish while pitifully looking at Mr jay and then his empty fishing calabash and hook which has just been railed in.

"which damn phrophecy.. mo fang I have told you to stop wasting your time on the sea" sam sneered at him.

"with your luck you are not cut for a fisherman, you are better off farming in the village"

"damn fatty.. wait for me i promise I won't hit you" waving his fishing rod at the other guy sneering at him, mo fang clenched his teeth taking slow steps toward him.

Despite knowing that he has no luck when it comes to fishing. Mo fang has never stopped going into the sea since the death of his foster parents, but he would always come back with and empty net and calabash. Which he has already become accustomed to and it has become something of a norm to him not to catch a fish, without any method to increase his luck on the sea, he could only resign to his fate.

But still despise it when people make fun of his terrible luck for fishing.

"song bai, get up everyone prepare to real in the net after the count of 5" Mr jay voice called out to them as as he take a hold of the dangling ball of runner on the sea attached to the fishing net before steadying himself on the boat, as the boys quickly joined him to rail in the net.

"1…2…3…4….5…. rail" the instant Mr jay shouted, all the three boys and himself pull hard as they used all their might to drag the fishing net out of the sea.

"wow!!" fatty sam loud voice echoed, at the sight of the many fishes caught on the railed net, most of them were colorful carps and catfish, with some few arowanas.

"rail harder boys" feeling elated at his catch Mr jay, called out to them as they drag the heavy net into the open space of the fishing boat.

"wow.. today we are so lucky" song bai suddenly said, as his eyes open wide with stars almost jumping out.

"1….2….3…4…..5….6….10" song bai counting voice resounded after the sight of what ever is in the net have all become visible to everyone.

"10 burst arowana…. uncle jay we made it" song bai jumped up and down causing the boat to sway left and right from his shifting weight.

"whew!" whipping the droplet of sweat on his fore head, fatty sam collapsed on to the boat.

'finally get some rest"

"lazy fatty!! what did you do that you are getting so worked up and tired" mo fang bend down beside fatty sam whose heavy panting, stirs the motion or the air, as he poked the chubby guy's belly with his fingers.

"okay… you boys should get some rest, in a few minute we would be out of the sea" Mr jay beaming with smiled patted his nephew head as he take his time to separate the fish from the net.
