Guilin led Kui to a small pond behind their rooms. It was quiet and secluded, surrounded by green trees and flowering plants that made the place feel almost untouched by the noise of the city. A few lotus flowers were still blooming on the surface of the water, their delicate petals floating gently with the breeze, while several colorful carp swam lazily beneath them. As soon as they noticed the approaching footsteps, the fish quickly scattered, their tails flicking as they disappeared into the deeper water.
Kui crouched beside the pond and leaned down, dipping his fingers into the water.
The cold immediately made his skin break out in goosebumps.
He quickly pulled his hand back and shivered, looking up at Guilin with a small smile.
"It's cold."
"Hmm..." Guilin frowned slightly as he looked at the pond. "I still don't think it's wise to swim around in water this cold."
