Anna understood that she could trust at most a third of what this woman said. But that didn't prevent her from agreeing. These people are probing me, and I'm just using this conversation to probe them as well. As long as I maintain my bottom line, these continued exchanges will only deepen my understanding of this organization, increasing my chances of escape.
"Cut the crap. Who is it today? Another visit from yesterday's psychiatrist?"
"No, some other friends."
The screen switched quickly, revealing two middle-aged men seated at a table. Confronted with new people, Anna first observed their appearances. Both looked utterly generic, with no distinguishing features whatsoever.
Except one wore half-rimmed glasses and the other did not. If you removed that single difference, most people would believe they were twins.
"Hello. It's a pleasure to meet you. You're Anna, correct? I'm Carlo." The one with glasses spoke first.
