The festering flesh melded together, barely piecing together Charles's former shape. Just as he was about to flicker away, Pai Bo, with only half a body, emerged from a nearby wall. Trailing him were two bird-headed K9s, the swollen old dog O5, and T6, which had reassembled its own ruined body.
At the same time, others appeared. Their forms were bizarre and grotesque, but their positioning made it clear they were all members of the GK Council.
They were supposed to be at SITE2, yet here they were again. But these aren't the same group I spoke with at SITE2. Charles quickly realized. Being the Foundation, an organization dedicated to total resource utilization, they would never produce just one of any GK Council member. They were all clones.
Gazing at the disfigured Charles in the distance, the GK Council saw no further need for talk. At this stage, it was either his death or their erasure.
