Charles shook his head, walked past the crew, and headed for the washroom between the two carriages.
He twisted open the faucet, letting ice-cold water wash over his weary face again and again. The chill quickly snapped him out of the nightmare's grip.
Charles looked up at his reflection in the mirror. "No, I have to trust Anna. She's not that kind of person. Shanshan is our daughter. She wouldn't do something like that."
As soon as he finished speaking, DING-DONG! A pleasant female voice sounded from the nearby speaker. "Dear passengers, this train is about to arrive at its final destination, Giant Pit Fortress. We are running 57 minutes late. Please gather your luggage and queue for disembarkation."
Charles reached out and slid open the train window, where a small city loomed in the distance. He hadn't returned for a long time—the place had changed far more than he had imagined.
