A human skull appearing here clearly meant that humans had reached this place. While he was still fighting for his life in the Abyss-Sea, humans were already living on the surface.
Did the Foundation get up here this early? Or is this skull really from a human who lived on the surface? Maybe the reason the surface is so desolate is because they've already taken to the sky.
Charles stared at the moss-covered skull before him, his mind reeling with questions as even more mysteries surfaced. Seeing no more clues, he suppressed the mysteries swirling in his mind.
"Let's go. We'll continue exploring upwards." Charles raised his head, looking at the forest growing on the nearly vertical slope. He bent down and tossed the skull back onto the mossy ground.
"Captain, shouldn't we take this with us?" Deep asked, looking down at the skull.
