Synopsis
Lin Mu was an ordinary college student who spent most of his free time playing Immortal Fate Online, a popular cultivation simulation game. His favorite mod was simple — a transparent panel that let him increase or decrease the duration of any status effect. Buffs, debuffs, poisons, enlightenment states — if it had a timer, he could control it.
Then he died.
When he opened his eyes, he was inside the body of a dying outer disciple of the Azure Cloud Sect. Poisoned. Beaten. Left for dead in a ravine. His meridians were cracked, his qi was nearly gone, and three senior disciples had just stolen everything he owned.
But the panel came with him.
Floating in the corner of his vision was the same transparent interface — clean, simple, no voice, no spirit, no mysterious backstory. Just timers. Plus buttons. Minus buttons. That was all.
The poison in his body had a duration. He erased it.
The weakness debuff had a timer. He erased that too.
Then he found something interesting. A forbidden technique scroll in the original body's memory — one that could multiply qi output by five times but would destroy the user's meridians as backlash.
Normal cultivators would never dare use it at full power.
Lin Mu activated it. Pushed it past the limit. Felt the meridian damage backlash appear as a status effect.
He deleted it completely.
Then he locked the enhanced qi output permanently.
This was his path. Not talent. Not bloodline. Not some heaven-defying treasure.
Just a panel that controlled duration.
Every technique had a cost. He erased the cost.
Every pill had a side effect. He erased the side effect.
Every tribulation applied pressure. He decided how long that pressure lasted.
In a world where cultivation demanded sacrifice, Lin Mu was the one person who never had to pay.
