"Governor, Feierbahah has left. He walked alone into the sea, following that school of red sharks." The white-haired butler reported to Charles everything he had seen at the dock.
"He went alone? What about his wife and child?"
"His wife and child remained on the island. After leaving the Governor's Mansion, Mr. Feierbahah didn't even return home—he went straight to the dock."
Charles chuckled softly. So he'd abandoned even his family. It seems his entire life here was an act. His wife, his child, the land and house he'd been assigned—none of it held any real attachment for him. I wonder who sent him and what they promised him. He didn't want women, power, or money. So what in the world did he want?
Regardless of Feierbahah's origins, that chapter was closed. Charles knew he would likely never see the crew member who had followed him for five years again.
Then, Charles recalled Feierbahah's parting words.
