The gaunt Lai Jie walked slowly along a street in the Dock District of Stalactite Island.
His footsteps were light and floaty, as if he were stepping on cotton, but there was nothing he could do about it. He hadn't eaten in three days, and drinking only water had left his body desperately weak.
After walking for half an hour, he finally reached a small alley on the edge of the dock—a place the crew usually liked to gather.
But now, there wasn't a single crew member around; only women in revealing clothes, lifting pink curtains with their hands and chatting with one another.
