Charles didn't know how long he'd been out, but he eventually awoke as if from a deep slumber.
The first thing he did was immediately and vigilantly scan his surroundings.
The humanoid monster had vanished. His surroundings had changed. He was now locked up, confined in what appeared to be a ten-square-meter cell with nothing inside but a heavy iron door in the distance.
Everything on his person had been taken: his wallet, relic, and clothes. Charles was now completely naked.
He could also see blood seeping from the joint where his prosthetic limb connected to his body. It looked as though someone had tried to rip the prosthetic off while he was unconscious but had failed.
From these clues, Charles quickly pieced together his situation: he had been captured by those strange creatures.
Although I hate to admit it, this is actually a good thing. They imprisoned me instead of killing me, which proves they can be reasoned with.
