When Ren and Evie arrived at school the next day, the halls felt strangely hollow.
Only a handful of students wandered through the corridors, their footsteps echoing louder than usual. Most classrooms were half-empty, chairs neatly tucked in as if waiting for students who might never show up today.
The reason was obvious.
The Halloween Event.
It wasn't just the school that felt deserted—the outside world had slowed to a crawl as well. Streets that were normally busy were now quiet. Shops operated with minimal staff. Public transport ran on lighter schedules.
Most of the population stayed indoors.
Some were deep inside the game, chasing candy points, bosses, and limited rewards. Others were simply waiting out their daily time limit, passing the hours until they could log in again. Life continued, but at a slower pace, bent around the rhythm of the game.
