"They said so in the warning that it would be… extreme," Ren added lightly. "So, no complaining now~."
"How was I supposed to know what they meant by extreme…?" Leonel groaned, clutching his chest. "They should've shown a short clip or something. At least give people a mental warning."
"R-right?" Nikolai nodded vigorously, looking like he had aged ten years in the last hour alone.
Evie immediately protested. "Where's the fun in that? If everyone knew what to expect, there would be no shock value at all. Horror loses its meaning if you're prepared for everything."
"E-Evie…" Leonel looked at her as if she had just betrayed him. "How are you this calm?"
Evie tilted her head slightly. "It's interesting," she said honestly. "Scary, yes—but fascinating."
Leonel felt betrayed by the universe. Why couldn't she like horrors?
While they argued in hushed voices, the group finally reached the last spiral staircase leading to the rooftop of the Mad Lab.
