"I'll attack first. Stay here and support me," Ren told Evie without taking his eyes off their enemies.
Evie hesitated. "Aren't we going to use Pii?"
Ren shook his head. "Not yet. We'll reserve Pii for later—once either of them enters Berserk Mode. We don't know enough about this quest. We should be careful." His gaze flicked between Regard and Sebastian. "Let's test the waters first. See if we can handle them without Pii's help. If our lives are in danger, then we'll ask for it."
Evie bit her lip but nodded. She trusted Ren's judgment, even if the situation made her uneasy.
After saying that, Ren opened the Pet Menu and returned Pii to its home. The little creature vanished in a flash of light, leaving the battlefield feeling strangely emptier.
Ren stepped forward, putting distance between himself and Evie. His grip tightened around his staves as he faced Regard and Sebastian head-on.
