"Anyway, are you going to come with me looking like that or are you…" Ren paused mid-sentence as realization hit him. The words forming in his brain sounded wrong. Very wrong. "…going inside me?" He immediately shut his mouth before he dug himself even deeper.
Alice blinked at him with big, innocent eyes. "Egh? What do you mean? Of course, I'm going to walk with you—just like a perfect human being."
You mean float like a ghost, Ren thought but kept to himself. He already learned that Alice lived in her own little world, where logic existed only when she felt like it. She was firmly convinced she was alive, despite the fact that she was literally transparent, hovering, and occasionally passing through walls.
Maybe if he showed her a mirror, she'd realize the truth. But Ren hesitated. What if realizing she was dead made her disappear? That would be a waste. Alice might be strange, but she was surprisingly useful. Losing her now would be foolish.
