I had to be absolutely sure this dude understood the terms. I knew he was honest, but I also knew he was slightly... well, thick-headed.
"He says these camps aren't an issue. We have a way to acquire humans without conquering any city."
"How?" Wrayly's words piqued my interest instantly. How could they possibly have a way to get humans that didn't involve the cities on this map? What, were they growing humans like wheat and flowers in some laboratory?
"You didn't ask yourself why our races are gathering up humans in such a way?" Wrayly threw the question at me like a bomb. It was a question I had totally missed in my scramble for power.
He had a point. "Why?" I asked. To be honest, I had never deeply cared about the ultimate fate of those sent to the other side of the gates. I had thought about it once or twice, assuming they were just being used as low-level slaves or manual labour.
