[New York, 7:07 PM]
Thunder rolled across the darkened sky.
A taxi swept through the rain and pulled to a stop outside the shelter. The rear door opened almost immediately, and a cloaked figure stepped onto the pavement.
Eloi wasted no time.
He hurried inside, water dripping from the hem of his cloak as he made his way through the quiet corridors. Only after reaching the blind shaman's room and shutting the door behind him did he finally pull back his hood.
"Any news from Mr. Ryley?"
The blind shaman said nothing at first. Her hand wandered across the table until her fingers found the piece of paper she had scribbled on earlier.
She held it out.
Eloi took it and quickly scanned the message.
His expression hardened.
"Alright." He folded the paper and shoved it into his pocket. "Then let's do it. Send me to the other realm. Now."
"You can cross by yourself."
Eloi looked up sharply.
"But not from here," she added.
