Chapter 25 - The Vine is Sentient

The deep purple vine was about as thick as a thumb, swaggering around showing off.

It even whipped the two guards' butts twice to establish its authority.

Su Ye's lips twitched.

She turned her head to look at the plant she raised.

"Was that you?"

The flower bud instantly erased its angry expression, swaying its head, even stretching out two deep purple leaves to wobble up and down, proudly proving it was definitely the culprit.

Su Ye reached out and stroked the flower bud, helplessly saying

"Let them go."

The flower bud wasn't happy about that. It turned its head away, showing off even more, and swung the three people up with its vine, tossing them into the air.

Xing was so scared she pretty much lost half her soul, fainting on the spot.

Su Ye could see the flower bud was out to torment these people to death.

She reached out, tapped the bud lightly, her tone getting a lot colder.

"Let them go."

The flower bud clearly didn't expect Su Ye to hit it, and immediately got pissed, ramming its unopened bud non-stop against Su Ye's waist.

Smack smack smack, just like tiny fists landing one after another.

Su Ye couldn't help but laugh.

Is this really a plant, not some animal buried in the soil??

She grabbed the bud and pinned down its movements.

Then her voice softened a bit

"Let them go. I'll find you something even more fun."

Finally, the flower bud understood.

In no time, it flung the three people onto the gravel path and ignored them completely.

It even lifted the bud high, like it was waiting for praise.

Su Ye reached out and patted the still-unopened bud.

She pondered for a bit

"Should I give you a name?"

The flower bud seemed really interested, just quietly waiting there.

Su Ye kept petting the flower bud as she spoke

"You look all dark and shiny······" like a shiny little black thing.

Halfway through, the flower bud pulled an unhappy face and started bumping her again.

The sunlight had Su Ye squinting, so she closed her eyes and changed her tune,

"Golden Crow. Your name's Golden Crow. It means you're as bright as the sun in the sky."

Clearly, the bud understood.

It seemed pretty pleased with its name.

Still, Su Ye felt it was a mouthful, so after calling it once, she immediately switched to Jin.

"Jin, behave and stay here. I'll go bring you something fun."

As soon as he heard Su Ye was bringing him something fun, Golden Crow didn't even mind being called Jin anymore.

Su Ye took Xing and the other two out of the garden.

About a stick of incense later.

Su Ye came back with a guard.

She dragged in a wolf dog and released it straight into the yard.

The wolf dog barked fiercely

"Woof woof woof!!"

In less than a cup of tea, the dog and the plant started fighting.

Su Ye's mouth twitched.

She hastily pulled the dog out and tied it in the pavilion's yard.

She carried a basin of water, gave Jin a drink first, then placed the basin in front of the wolf dog.

Then she went back to Jin and explained

"I've been busy lately, no time, so I'll let him play with you."

After saying that, she remembered Xing's previous trauma and added,

"Don't bury the dog in the dirt."

The reason Su Ye brought the dog over was actually pretty simple.

Don't dogs love to play with balls?

Jin's three restless vines are perfect for dog toys, aren't they?

After explaining, Su Ye glanced at Jin, half-buried in the soil.

Just what the hell is this contract of mine?
