The silence.
The hurt.
The grief.
It was all too raw.
Nour had assumed that something had happened, but when he was let into Zaire's memory, when he got to see for himself what had scared the big bad Lycan warrior into tears, he felt it all.
The emotions.
The fear.
Everything that the warrior had felt.
And his heart shattered right there and then for his Erasthai. This was too much for one person to handle. Too far for one person to carry. It was the kind of burden that never felt relieving, ever.
Even though the burden was fixed, the fear was too intense.
Right now, it was the fear of loss. The fear that Zaire felt for not being able to do anything. The fear that came with a million and one theories of what had happened, of what he should have done right.
And worse, the blame for canceling the one thing didn't seem fair to them.
It scared Nour, too.
Not in the way that Zaire had been scared, though.
