The council room had cleared out, but the Lycan was still on his knees, like a man who was holding onto the last sliver of who he had once been.
The king, too shocked to say a word, wordlessly emptied the room so his son and Zaire could have a word. Anything that could explain whatever the fuck had just happened.
It was not easy.
It was not expected.
Yet in the middle of that was a warrior, a man so powerful yet brought to his knees by the very idea that someone was trying to take the love of his life from him.
The very thought that he would someday have to live a life that didn't have Nour in it scared the living shit out of him. And as he stayed hunched on the floor, Nour had sat right beside him.
The prince hadn't left. Hadn't even looked at the council as his father cleared them out. It was like his world was narrowed down to the area on the ground, and it hurt to even watch Zaire like that.
