Getting closer, Torren realised it wasn't just papers, but very important documents. He quietly gathered all the documents scattered across the bed.
Reading each document, seeing her name. It was only then that realisation hit him, 'All this time, I thought I was well off, but from what I hold in my hand, she is worth triple my worth.'
Noticing a small envelope on the bed head, Torren took out the document, seeing the death certificate of her Uncle.
Feeling so broken for her, he placed all the documents inside the big envelope, and he rested it on the table near the window.
Torren didn't want to disturb her, noticing the tiredness on her face. He quietly took a bath. Knowing his Dad had the two children in his room. Torren changed and quietly went to assist his dad with the children. Updating his Dad on the new development in her family.
With that in mind, Train sympathised with her situation and instructed Torren and the children not to disturb her until the morning.
Together they went for dinner, when Torren heard his Dad saying, "They have expanded the business so much. Do you know, Son, when I first came here, this is exactly how I visualised this business? But they have also added a gym. The mini-mart and the play area fit in perfectly. Also, I observed how they placed safety measures around the pool. "
"Dad, you are right, but only one thing I observed seems to be missing."
"And what is that, Son?"
"Dad, this place looks more like a beach resort, so if there's a beach around, a small boutique will make this resort complete."
"Well, I don't know if there's a beach, but you are right," With that said, Torren noticed the children's eyes closing, so they carried them up to his Dad's room.
When they were asleep, Torren thanked his Dad once more for coming. He then bid him a good night and left.
Closing the door, Torren went and lay down next to her, thinking she might wake up, but he was so tired himself, he fell asleep immediately.
Waking early, hearing her calling his name, taking her in his arms, hearing her saying, "How much she loves him."
With the constant knocking, Shawney, half awake, recalled she hadn't locked the door. So why didn't they open it? Her eyes were still glued together, wondering, 'Who could it be?'
With a little difficulty, she forced her eyes to open. She glared outside, knowing, 'She lay on the bed after seven or almost eight last night.'
Saying, 'It's open,' then she closed her eyes once more. With heaviness of heart, she knew deep down within her heart no one would remember it was her birthday, and Mom's death anniversary. 'Mom had died for her birthday, and now Uncle was buried the day before it.'
Feeling so hurt inside, Shawney didn't want to mingle with anyone nor be disturbed. When the door opened, Shawney heard the children calling out to her, "Mummy, mummy."
Opening her eyes, Shawney felt a different joy; something unexplainable that her own siblings couldn't offer.
Shawney felt a sweet happiness from deep within that dispelled the sadness that clung to her for the entire week.
Hearing their sweet voices, Shawney felt extra energy that seemed to be overflowing from her entire body. 'Asking herself, if they are here, then, where is Torren?' "Honey, where is your daddy?"
Hearing her ask for him, he cleared his throat, smiling as he looked at her. Shawney turned to look at him. With a broad smile plastered on his face, his elbow resting on the bed, propping his chin with the palm of his hand.
Reaching out her hand, touching his face, "Oh my goodness, I have missed you so much."
She then turned to Train and said, "Dad. Thank you for coming. Can you keep the children for a few hours? I feel like I still need a few more hours of sleep. Let the kitchen know what you want for breakfast, then take them on the slide by the pool, anywhere."
"Okay, child, try to get some rest. I can see you are still tired." With that said, she called the two children and gave them a hug, "Sweethearts, mummy is very tired, be good and stay with granpa, and later mummy will carry you for a tour."
Gretta cuddled up to her, "Mummy, I miss you so much."
Shawney cuddled her only to hear Train saying, "Angel, Mummy need to rest, come, Papa will take you to eat foodie."
By the time Train was speaking to Gretta, Shawney was already sound asleep. Torren slid off the bed and gently removed Gretta from her hold. The room was silent once again. Slipping beside her, Torren closed his eyes. He realised that he also needed some extra rest.
When he opens his eyes and checks his time, Torren notices it is already two hours. since his Dad left with the children. Feeling refreshed from the extra rest, Shawney turned and closed her eyes once more. Reaching across to her, taking her in his arms. I haven't gotten a good night's rest since you left me, and now you're going back to sleep, no way, not until I show you how much I miss you."
"You are a heartless man."
"Maybe I am, and I don't care what you call me," hugging her, he realised something was wrong.
Passing his hand on her face, feeling the wetness. Kissing her face and hand, whispering, "I am here now, and everything is going to be all right."
When she snuggled up to him, Torren heard her crying. He felt so heartbroken, but at that moment, he hadn't the faintest idea how to comfort her.
Torren gently stroked her hair and whispered lovingly to help soothe her heart. A few times, he kissed her head. When she did speak, "Thank you for coming. You may not know this, but everyone is still angry with me."
"Now, now, my darling wife, I miss you so much." Cuddling her in his arms, knowing that if he distracted that trend of thought, she might even forget all about the grievance and hurting for a little while.
