Chapter 59 - SHE IS A BLESSED CHILD

SHE IS A BLESSED CHILD

Mitch wanted to submit obediently to his father, but from what occurred before his Dad came, he could not keep quiet. "Dad, it is the truth, they treat Shawney like a slave, you should have seen how she had to fix their breakfast this morning."

"Son, I know it hurt you how they treat her, but she is a blessed child. If I know her well enough, she might give them whatever they ask for, but you know what, when she does, God will bless her with better things."

"You are right, Dad, I am sorry I shouldn't interfere with what decision she has to make. By the way, Dad, I am going to meet Joseph. Can I use your car? My bus is at the auto shop?"

"Go ahead, but I need it back for one o'clock."

"Uncle Robert, you are too soft on Mitch," Sid said.

"Children, I am his father. If he can't come to me when he has a need, then who could he go to? Love is not something you buy; it is earned, and my boy has earned that right."

"But Uncle, he used you?" Meg replies.

"Just as you all used Shawney?"

"But Uncle, that's not true, we don't use Shawney, she loves fixing our meals."

"I see, so that's how you see it, Meg. Sid, what do you think?"

"Uncle, she doesn't complain."

Seizing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, help this family mend their ways. "So, because she doesn't complain, do you think she likes slaving in the kitchen? I really can't believe the four of you, but then when a person is selfish, they always want and give nothing in return. I am sure all of you have received vast benefits from her, and from what I observed, none of you has given Shawney anything in return. Or show a single bit of remorse or gratitude. You all really disappoint me."

Taking up Shawney's bag from the table, Robert said, "You all enjoy your breakfast, your aunt and I have an errand to run for about an hour.

At the MacCarty residence, Train was sitting in the living room when Torren entered, "Dad, are you going to the factory today?"

"No, son, I have some errands to run for the dinner party tomorrow, but if you need something, I could get it for you."

"Dad, I was thinking about getting a gown for. Shawney."

Without a second thought, Train nods, "Excellent idea, son, but will you be sending it to Robert's home for her?"

"Not a chance, that rowdy Aunt might make a fuss, I asked her to come before lunch. She agrees, so she can change here. I also overheard Lasandra and Careen discussing bringing in a beautician. I will speak with them, and it will save Shawney some time."

"Okay, that's a great plan. Then don't worry, it will be here. Is that all you needed?"

"I think so, but check with Liz and see if she will need anything for the children. Now that that is taken care of, I am going for a ride."

"Torren, are you feeling okay, Son?"

"I am fine, Dad. I just feel, for some fresh air, I should be back within an hour."

As he leaves the living room, Train watches him go, and thinks for a moment, wondering if he had figured out she had an inheritance. I know when he is angry; nothing sinks into that head of his, but that fool had to open his big mouth. I understand that he loves her, but did he have to spill the beans so everyone could hear? I must thank God, though, the others weren't there, also no mention of her business and parcel of land.'

Entering the kitchen, "Louise, have you made arrangements to get some extra help?"

"Yes, Sir."

"Then give me the list so I can get what you need."

"Sir, I have already ordered all that I need; the delivery truck will be here anytime now."

"Louise, I need you to ensure that everything is in order and on time. I don't want Torren to be displeased. "

"Sir, there's no need to worry, our Eldest Young Master told me what he wanted in the menu, and I just added a few other things he likes. I know you are doing this for him, and I am so happy. I will be preparing extra just in case."

"Thank you. Now, if you need anything, just let me know. I am going to my room."

Hearing Lasandra call out to Jeff as he was about to leave, "Honey, don't forget my dress and a matching pair of shoes."

Taking the phone, Train orders a gown for Shawney and a few other things.

Closing his eyes, Torren whispered, "She is Dad's friend, but I am being drawn to her. Why is that?"

He feels confused when the thought crosses his mind. 'But he calls her child, just like Lasandra and Careen.

Could it be he invited her to come and visit, knowing I was coming home? Is this his plan then? If that is so, then he won't be angry if we become more than friends?'

Looking out over the open range as many questions flood through his mind.

Feeling everything jumbling up again, taking some deep breaths, whispering, "She might just be the rightest person, from my observation, nothing seems to bother her.

Maybe she won't have a problem with Jeff and Candis; those two were the ones who made all the problems with Dalia.

Dalia was a bit stubborn and hot-tempered, answering back and always putting me in a difficult position. Shawney, on the other hand, is completely different from what I observed; she keeps her cool and is the very opposite of Dalia.
