Felip stood in the middle of the clearing.
For a second, Gabriella could not understand what she was seeing.
His suit jacket was gone.
It lay several feet away from him, half-covered by leaves near the edge of the fountain. The sleeves of his white shirt had been rolled up to his elbows, exposing his forearms. One side of his collar had been pulled loose, and there was already a dark stain near his shoulder.
Blood.
Gabriella's breath caught.
Three men surrounded him.
No.
Four.
Each one wore black clothes that allowed them to blend into the shadows beneath the trees. Their faces were concealed behind identical masks.
Black panda masks.
The masks should have looked ridiculous. Almost childish. Yet beneath the pale moonlight, they looked terrifying.
The wide white eyes. The dark circles. The painted smiles that never changed no matter how violently the men moved.
One attacker rushed toward Felip and the young Monsanto turned just before the man reached him.
