Even the shabbiest and poorest Tomb World took enormous effort for the Federation to conquer in a way that wouldn't alert the other Tomb Worlds. We were extremely careful when it came to the Necrons, and after pillaging some of the targets, the Federal High Council decided that the Terran Federation wouldn't be dealing with the Necrons anymore.
It happened during the time that I was alive, because I remember it rather well.
One day, we were almost led to the Tomb World that was inhabited by the Suhbekhar Dynasty. The Suhbekhar Dynasty was a powerful Dynasty of the Necrons whose worlds are located within the Jericho Reach and who may be related to the phenomenon known as the Dark Pattern.
From then on, the Federation forbade any exploration of additional Tomb Worlds, with the punishment of execution.
I decided to go for the second version of the plan in the end, as I would push this Avatar of mine to the Tier 11 and then start assimilating the sliver of my true power from my True Body.
It should take me around a few weeks to achieve, which wasn't really the worst timespan around here. Once it was done, I could enter the Webway and take what I wanted from the Commorragh without any danger or repercussion.
After deciding on the next course of action, I went to fight Esdeath, who was spending most of her time in the training grounds within the Executor-class Super Star Destroyer Dreadnought, as that was her place.
The entire Executor-class Super Star Destroyer Dreadnought had relatively extensive modifications because both of us needed a lot of space for the training. Mainly because we were training a lot, especially Esdeath, who was spending all of her time fighting against the Anti-Psyker Knight Mechs.
The Anti-Psyker Knight Mechs of the Terran Federation proved to be highly suitable sparring partners for Esdeath and even for me during the time that we were on the ship. The pieces of machinery were expertly countering any Psychic Powers that one possessed and could even create Null Fields that were completely nullifying the Psychic Powers.
The basic pattern of the Anti-Psyker Knight Mechs was based on the Null Field Matrix Technology, or at least something that appeared to be the Null Field Matrix.
A Null Field Matrix is a form of advanced Necron technology used to project a large Anti-Psychic Field around itself, similar to that employed on a smaller scale by Gloom Prisms and the Nightshroud barriers created by Monolith phalanxes and Gauss Pylon networks.
Most commonly used to shield Necron Tomb Worlds from psychic disturbance, they display the Necron's mastery over technology and their ability to create a technological defence for nearly any threat they encounter.
Necrons were using this technology against the Psykers since immemorial, as it was specifically created to counter the Old Ones during the War of Heaven. And the technology worked rather too well, because it was effectively rendering even some of the most powerful Psykers powerless.
Of course, it didn't really have that good effect on Esdeath or me, due to the peculiar nature of our Psychic Powers. But I guess that if it were used on any other Psyker in the galaxy, then the effects would be devastating.
For Esdeath and me, as the Psychic Energy was deeply ingrained in our DNA and Esdeath's Partas Tribe, which was deeply connected with the Psychic Energy through the consumption of the Danger Beasts, such devices were not 100% effective.
But they were still more than enough to weaken us to a great degree. Esdeath couldn't properly use the Spiritual Avatar of the Super Danger Beast when she used the power of her Super Danger Beast Bloodline, as the Anti-Psyker Knight Mech used the Null Field Matrix against her during the fight.
When I arrived at one of the many training grounds of the Executor-class Super Star Destroyer Dreadnought, Esdeath was once again engaged in the fight against Anti-Psyker Knight Mech.
The Mech that was shaped like an autonomous knight armor of the Middle Ages, Terra, moved at lightning speed against the General of the Partas Tribe, and the two of them were locked in a fierce fight.
Because of the Null Field Matrix that the Anti-Psyker Knight Mech was employing, Esdeath's body was being affected like a Kryptonian under the Kryptonite. But the effect wasn't that drastic; it was just that she was being weakened, and her use of Psychic Powers was highly unstable.
'Clearly the technology used to create the Anti-Psyker Knight Mech is incomplete... the geniue Necron tech is far more advanced and would be effective even against Super Danger Beast Bloodline of the Partas Tribe and similar species that have merged the Psychic Energy into the very concept of the Bloodline...'
I thought as I observed the Anti-Psyker Knight Mech and its faults. Like many other things within the Terran Federation, this piece of technology was also created on what the Imperium would call Xenos Tech.
Like most of our technology.
And ufnrotureanyl, because it was created on the crude imitation of the Necrons Null Field Matrix that the Federation obtained from some ruins. Unfortunately, we barely understood the concepts of the Immaterium, much less what was said about the Necron Technology, which was an even bigger mystery in many regards.
As creatures long without any kind of spiritual essence, the Necrons cannot project their minds into the Warp or harness its power to any degree. They are unable to use the Warp to journey across the galaxy and are thoroughly bereft of any native Psykers.
In many ways, this was a boon, for the Empyrean is always a fickle servant, given to wreaking havoc on those who seek to claim its power. Many were corrupted and destroyed in their path of using the Warp for their goals, as the Warp in the end claimed their very own souls.
The Aeldari could attest to that, as their connection to the Immaterium was also their doom.
In a twisted sense of irony.
