Chapter 686 - Psyker and Stars (8)

Chaos Daemons, or simply Daemons, also known as a "Neverborn" amongst the forces of Chaos, are intelligent and usually malevolent entities of the Warp comprised of purely Psychic Energy.

Daemons were both sentient and self-aware embodiments of Chaos and collectively the greatest servants of the Chaos Gods and of Chaos itself as a universal force. Daemons were created at the whim of one of the four major Chaos Gods from a fraction of the God's own power within the Immaterium and act as an extension of its will.

A Daemon's appearance and intrinsic character reflect the God's own nature. These Daemons may be reabsorbed into the God's Psychic Signature in the Warp at their whim because, in a certain sense, they were just the extension of the Chaos Gods themselves.

The Solar Terran Federation reached the Warp, Imperium, Ruinous Powers, and everything related to the Warp rather extensively. When I was still human and lived in the Federation, I wasn't really working on the projects related to the Warp, primarily ,and only oversaw a few projects that were pretty important to warrant my personal attention.

Though several of my good friends were working on the various projects whose sole goals were to create Psykers.

The ultimate goal of humanity.

To become the Psychic Species.

Like the Aeldari.

Who were like Gods.

With their ability to wield the Warp safely and bend reality to their wishes and whims... from a certain perspective, they really seemed to be Gods.

And then we found the Daemons.

They were very interesting creatures.

The denizens of the Warp.

When manifested in the material universe, Daemons have particular invulnerabilities and weaknesses, as well as many strange powers derived from their Warp-born nature as psychic beings.

Slaying a Daemon's physical projection does not kill it, but only severs its presence in reality; its true essence in the Warp remains unharmed.

Retrospectively thinking, this wasn't an ability that was exclusive to the Chaos Daemons, yet, even outside of the Immaterius Universe, the number of races that had such perfect conversion of energy.

As creatures of pure emotion and psychic energy that are native to the twisted mirror dimension of the Empyrean, Daemons cannot survive for long in the cold reality of the material universe.

They need some manner of focal point, some channel through which they can transfer their uncanny power from the Immaterium and make themselves manifest in the worlds of flesh and blood.

"Well? If something goes wrong, I have you to take care of it."

Hearing her to say something like that made me cringe, but alas, it was true, because I was confident in handling the Daemonic Possession if something like that even happened. If my theory were correct, then the moment something attempted to possess her, the Spirit Beast would emerge and destroy the Daemon.

Not to mention, I was wondering if the Spirit Beast could be cultivated and use the Daemons as it's food.

"As you wish... but it could be an extremely painful process. Daemonic Possession is no joke."

I said that because I witnessed a fair share of the Daemonic Possessions, and they were no joke and were extremely dangerous. Stating that, I removed the protections around the place, which were serving to prevent the Daemons of the Warp from noticing the Warp Presence of the Psykers.

Psykers were too dangerous to remain at liberty on humanity's myriad worlds; their minds were susceptible to Daemonic possession, as their strong presences in the Warp could serve as gateways into the material universe for all kinds of Warp entities if they were weak or undisciplined with their powers.

Uncontrolled, they can intentionally or unintentionally cause the destruction of entire worlds and have done so in the pre-Imperial past, such as during the terrible days of the Age of Strife.

Even during the Golden Age of Technology, during the heights of the Solar Terran Federation, there wasn't a method that would shield the Psykers from the Daemonic Possessions, much less right now when the technology of humanity has degraded.

Greatly at that.

Nevertheless, the very moment when I disabled the protections against the entities of the Immaterium, Esdeath's Psychic Presence appeared in the Warp, and it was like a beacon for the Daemons of the Warp that were close to her.

The stronger the Psyker was, the more powerful their Presence within the Warp was, and her's Psychic Presence was very powerful.

It was a combination of multiple factors, but the very potent Danger Beast Bloodline that she possessed was the main reason why she was psychically very powerful, and her presence in the Warp was like a flame attracting all moths.

And as I predicted, soon enough her sheer presence within the Warp attracted thousands of Lesser Daeemons, because it wasn't every day that someone managed to project such powerful Presence to the Warp.

Such a person would be almost a dream-like host for the Daemons to possess.

Yet the very moment they approached Esdeath, suddenly the entire area of the Warp shook as an enormous silhouette of the Danger Beast appeared. I couldn't really see it clearly, because it was in the Warp and my own power wasn't stabilized enough, but I could hear it.

The anguished screams of the Daemons of the Warp, that were being butchered in hundreds within the heart of the Warp.

Which meant that they were dead.

For real.

Killed.

End.

Finito.

I knew that it was being done by the Spiritual Manifestation of the Super Danger Beast that was the primogenitor of the Partas's Bloodline Lineage.

And the slaughter continued for some good time, as the Spiritual Avatar of the Super Danger Beast didn't stop anywhere as it continued slaughtering it's way through the hordes and hordes of Daemons that wanted to possess Esdeath.

At the same time, every time it killed a Daemon, some part of the essence of the Daemon was being absorbed by the Spiritual Avatar of the Super Danger Beast, as it grew stronger and stronger with each kill.

This was exactly the thing that I aimed to achieve.
