Chapter 1 - Bound to Konoha

Konoha Village — Rooftop of the Hokage Tower

"Please… Fourth Hokage."

Dressed in the traditional Hokage robes, Hiruzen Sarutobi solemnly held out the Hokage hat with both hands and passed it to Minato Namikaze, the newly appointed Fourth Hokage.

Minato nodded with unwavering resolve.

"I swear to lay down my life to protect Konoha."

He stepped forward to face the gathered villagers and shinobi below, accepting their cheers like a true hero stepping into legend.

Among the crowd applauding was Aaron.

He couldn't have been happier for Minato. If anyone could lead Konoha into a new golden age, it was him. They'd enrolled in the Academy together, trained in the same class, and over the years their bond had grown into a genuine friendship.

Sure, at first Aaron might've thought about riding Minato's coattails, who wouldn't want to be friends with a prodigy? But over time, that calculation faded. Minato wasn't just talented; he was the kind of person you'd trust with your life.

Too bad next year the Nine-Tails is going to attack… and Minato won't survive it.

Aaron stared up at Minato's bright, confident smile and wondered how he could possibly change fate.

He was a reincarnator but he hadn't exactly hit the genetic lottery. He wasn't an Uchiha, a Senju, or a Hyūga. No legendary bloodline. Just a regular guy with decent chakra control and a stubborn work ethic.

Even with foreknowledge and some modern tactical thinking, he'd only clawed his way up to elite jonin level. Strong yes. But against monsters like Minato? He might last three minutes.

Trying to brute-force a solution wasn't realistic.

And he couldn't just tell Minato about the coming disaster either. How would he explain the source? Best case, he'd be interrogated by ANBU. Worst case, someone like Danzo Shimura would take a "special interest" in him. The Nine-Tails' jinchūriki was far too sensitive a subject.

As Aaron racked his brain for a way out, a mysterious voice echoed inside his mind. A translucent blue interface materialized before his eyes.

System Notification:

Congratulations, Host. You are now bound to Konoha Village.

Your fate is tied to the village's prosperity.

If Konoha thrives, you will receive rewards.

If Konoha declines or is destroyed, your body and even your lifespan will suffer.

Aaron's expression darkened.

No one would dare cast a genjutsu during a public inauguration like this. Which meant…

This was real.

"Bound to Konoha?" he muttered internally. "This isn't a partnership. This is a hostage situation."

Anyone who knew Konoha's history knew it wasn't exactly smooth sailing. The Nine-Tails attack next year. Internal conspiracies. Future invasions. The village was basically a magnet for apocalyptic events.

He forced himself to breathe and studied the interface.

Current Binding: Konoha Village

Status: Recovering

Prosperity Level: 1234

Recommendation: Recently emerged from war; requires reconstruction and stabilization.

That tracked. After the Third Shinobi War, Konoha had barely caught its breath.

But worse storms were coming. Orochimaru's illegal experiments would soon be exposed, leading to his defection. And that was only the beginning.

Aaron used to keep his head down and grind quietly. Now? The Nine-Tails' attack was only a year away and apparently his lifespan might be docked if things went badly.

Then another notification appeared:

You may bind to a Character Template.

The stronger and more influential the template, the greater your potential growth.

Based on Konoha's current state, choose one:

• Golden Lion Shiki (Post–Impel Down)

• Whitebeard – Edward Newgate (Marineford Era)

• Misaka Mikoto (Level 5 Electromaster)

Aaron didn't hesitate.

"Whitebeard. Edward Newgate."

Even in his old age at Marineford, hooked up to medical equipment and riddled with illness, he was still Whitebeard, the man hailed as the strongest in the world.

With even a fraction of that power, smashing the Nine-Tails wouldn't be out of reach.

Binding Successful.

Current Fusion Rate: 40% (System Bonus)

Increase fusion through points or alignment with template traits.

At 100%, the template will fully integrate into your body.

Forty percent.

So no instant god mode. He'd have to grow into it.

"Alignment with traits?" Aaron muttered. What did that mean? Grow a crescent mustache? Start calling people "my sons"? That sounded ridiculous.

Still

He clenched his fist.

Raw, overwhelming power surged through him like a tidal wave. Even at 40%, he had crossed into Kage-level strength.

Twenty-three years of effort, plus a little help from the system, and he'd finally stepped into the realm of legends.

System Notice:

A new Kage-level shinobi has emerged in Konoha.

Prosperity increased.

Reward: 50,000 points.

Aaron blinked.

So getting stronger boosted Konoha. Boosting Konoha earned points. Points increased fusion.

It looked like an infinite feedback loop

Until he checked how many points were required to increase Whitebeard's fusion.

His optimism died instantly.

The ceremony ended. The crowd dispersed.

After waiting a bit, Aaron made his way up to the Hokage Tower. Applauding from below wasn't enough. His best friend had just become Hokage, this called for a personal congratulations.

He knocked and stepped inside.

He immediately walked into a domestic scene.

Kushina Uzumaki was enthusiastically thumping Minato's chest with her fists.

"Guess I misjudged the old man," she laughed. "Didn't think he had the guts to step down and hand you the job."

Minato winced slightly.

"Cough," Aaron cleared his throat, announcing his presence before things got more awkward.

"Aaron's here," Minato said gently, rubbing his sore chest. Being married to a powerhouse had its downsides.

Kushina waved it off. "Relax, he's one of us."

Minato looked at her with helpless affection.

Feeling like he'd just walked into a rom-com scene, Aaron quickly said, "Minato, congratulations on becoming Hokage. I'll leave you two to celebrate."

"Aaron, wait."

He stopped mid-step.

"There's something important I want to ask you."

Aaron turned back.

"I want you to join the ANBU," Minato said, his eyes earnest. "Be my right-hand man. Will you?"

It wasn't an order. It was a request.

They'd been friends since their first year at the Academy. Minato knew him better than anyone, perhaps even better than Aaron knew himself.

At school, Aaron had always seemed average. Unremarkable grades. Slow promotions.

But Minato had seen through it.

Beneath that ordinary exterior was a once-in-a-generation mind. Strategy, governance, jutsu theory, Aaron could discuss them all with depth and clarity. It frustrated Minato that only he and Kushina had ever seen that side of him.

Now that Minato stood at the top, he wanted his friend beside him.

Together

They could build a stronger Konoha.
