After everything with Vikky had been dealt with, Violet Ivy and myself were headed back to class in silence. After all, we had just learned the truth behind Vikky, and everything that happened to her leading up to the day we found her. Caught off guard was an understatement!
"So…what's the plan now?" Strangely enough, Ivy was the first to speak up. "Her dad might have not looked for her or her siblings for a while but…we can't gaurentee that things will stay this way."
Humming in response, I kicked a stone on the pathway. "You're right…"
"Damit!" Violet cursed and punched a tree. Hard. "This is just bullsh*t! Vikky, she doesn't deserve to go through any of this!"
"…." Ivy and I fell quiet. It was true, but even then, with powers as dangerous as hers, it was no suprise that her dad kicked her out.
As for her siblings? We had little idea to why they were sent away too. Perhaps her dad was worried they would manifest powers like Vikky as well?
"We should head to class and meet up afterwards." I quickly said to brush away the heavy topic. At least for a little bit. The wind blew and my burgundy hair with red highlights blue with it. I brushed my hair back with my hand, sighing deeply. "We better get to class if we don't want to be late."
"Right…it's P.E, right? Let's go…we have to change too." Ivy nodded. She went over to Violet and tugged her arm, but Violet didn't budge. After pouting for a second, Violet finally moved.
With another collective sigh, we all walked away. Well tried too, anyways. My phone started to buzz in my pocket, catching me off guard.
"Hello? Luke?" I was shocked that he was calling me so suddenly during the day. But his next words caused the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up in shock. I gasped. "W-What?"
Immediately, I gave a brief goodbye and looked at my friends. "Violet, come with me. Ivy, can you use your speed to get Vikky and meet us in the infirmary?"
"The infirmary? Wh-What's going on?" She questioned, her eyes revealing concern.
"It's actually…probably better if we see it for ourselves. Let's go."

Arriving at the infirmary, I saw Luke, Jacob, and Alex waiting out side. Out of the three, Luke seemed to be the most worried.
"Hey, what's going on? " I ran up to them, Violet alongside me. "What's going on with Adam?"
"Well," Luke sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "It's referred to as the rejection loop. If a wolf finds their mate and goes too long without being accepted, they…"
"W-Wait. So Adam was right? Vikky, she's his mate?" I questioned Luke.
"W-What?" A voice spoke. I quickly turned around and saw that Ivy had in fact arrived with Vikky. The girl's face looked intensely flushed, as though she would pass out any second. "W-Why did you bring me here?"
"Vikky…" Luke started, his blue eyes focused on her with seriousness filling them, but his tone was still gentle. "It has to be really scary for you, given everything that you went through, to believe anything that he might say or trust Adam at all, but,"
"That isn't true!" Vikky quickly cut him off. "I just…i don't believe that I can be there for him the way he needs me to…i didn't realize that I was…hurting him by—"
"You aren't." Another sudden voice said. I jumped and instinctively grabbed Luke's arm, calming down seconds later with a reddened face. Luke only smiled at me, but didn't say much. Why wasn't anyone announcing their presence?!?
"A-Adam?" Vikky stared at him, clutching her hands tightly. "What's…what's going on with you?"
Adam looked ragged and drained. Not in a physically depleted way but, his eyes just seemed, dull?
….Not to mention, he was leaning on the infirmary doorframe for support. It was a strange sight to see given how massive he was.
"It's my fault, don't worry, Vikky." Adam spoke slower and slower, like he was about to pass out. Luke shook his head, crossing his arms. Adam shot him a look. "Don't."
"If Adam continues to go without seeing you, Vikky. He will only get weaker and weaker. It isn't natural for a wolf to be without their mate for a long time."
Vikky tensed a bit. "You…me… we are actually, mates?"
Adam's eyes fluttered. His face even got a little flushed at Vikky's words, but he only nodded.
"What…what can I do to help him?" Vikky asked Luke. As Luke opened his mouth, Adam shot him another glare, this time stronger. Luke winced, and I pursed my lips.
"Why doesn't he want you to say anything?" I quickly questioned from the side, whispering. Luke shook his head.
"He doesn't want to force her into anything, I guess."
"B-But if this keeps up, won't he be permanently injured?!" I whisper-shouted. Luke sighed, as though he was defeated.
"If his pheromones keep going at this rate, I'm certain he'll run into trouble of other werewolves wanting to be with him."
"W-What? Is it truly that serious?" I was shocked. My memory went back to Emily and her possessive obsession over Luke, I immediately deflated. "Nevermind…I guess it is…."
As our side conversation fell quiet, Vikky spoke up again. "Adam, what can I do to help you? You saved me so many times so just, tell me!"
As Vikky took a step forward, Adam's entire body seemed to rescind and back away. I watched as he covered his face with his hand to hide his expression. But from the side of the hallway, I could see it clearly.
"!!" I immediately realized something. The reason Adam kept coming to my house a couple weeks ago. Maybe contact has something to do with it?
I shot Violet a glance as she was standing besides Vikky. She looked at me, confused. I widened my eyes and cocked my head to the side, beckoning towards Vikky, and then, towards Adam.
"….!" After a couple seconds, she easily got the hint. Her eyes even lit up with a hint of playfulness. She patted Vikky's shoulders steadily. "Now, now. I have an idea on how we can fix things."
Vikky immediately looked at Violet with hopeful purple eyes. "R-Really?"
Violets eyes went from mischievous to playfully-pitiful. "Forgive me, o young one."
"W-What?" Vikky was confused. But not for long.
With a strong push, Vikky stumbled a couple steps forward before starting to fall. Ivy's eyes went wide as she gasped. Even the boys were shocked, until,
Grasp! Pull!
Vikky had still been many feet away from the ground when she was caught and pulled towards Adam by Adam. I hadn't seen a person move so fast. Well, maybe Ivy when she was using her second power, super speed!
Adam hugged Vikky tightly in his arms, his face resting in her hair, and his entire body seemed to instinctively wrap around her, like a shield.
"Physical contact, that was the best way she could help, right?" I smiled knowingly before turning to look at Luke. However,
His blue eyes seemed transfixed onto the two, expressionless. Confused, I grabbed his hand and spoke up again.
"Luke?"
He turned towards me, this time, a little shocked. Then, a warm smile bloomed. "Pretty smart of you to realize that, Sara. You're right."
His hand clasped around my own, causing my heart to swell.
"Well, hate to be that person, how long do we have to stick around here? Because I think class has already started." Jacob spoke up for the third time today.
At the mention, Violet, Ivy, and I exchanged glances of equal worry. We were going to be in trouble if we were late to another class!
"V-Vikky, you're good here, right?!" Violet started to backpedal. Ivy quickly began to wave goodbye to the guys, grabbing my arm as she did. "If we're late, Sasha's personally going to grind us all into hamburgers. We have to go!"
We didn't get a response from Vikky. Perhaps cause she was too flustered to answer as the tall boy was practically cradling her for several seconds on end. But even then, I caught glimpse of the look on Luke's face and felt my heart go silent for a couple seconds.
I wonder what he was feeling. Was it envy?
I wonder what I was feeling. Was it, sadness?
