Faded Memories by M.J Grief

In the quiet coastal town of Whitby, safety begins not with passion—but with firelight. Willow Smith, a guarded gothic chef-in-training from a working-class Japanese-British family, has spent her life learning how to survive raised voices and broken trust. Michael Jensen, a world-class chef carrying the invisible scars of wealth, neglect, and childhood abuse, arrives at her kitchen like a man who has mastered control but never known gentleness. Their connection does not explode into love. It settles. Through shared shifts, late-night walks along the pier, and the steady tending of a wood-fired oven, they build something rare: a relationship rooted in safety before desire. For Willow, Michael becomes the first man whose voice does not make her flinch. For Michael, Willow becomes the first place where he can rest without performing strength. But safety is fragile. Enter Samantha Shaw—wealthy, composed, and dangerously perceptive. She pulls Michael back into a world of power, manipulation, and inherited expectation. Under her influence, London becomes a place of isolation and addiction, where control disguises itself as care. As Samantha slowly rewrites Michael’s reality, Whitby begins to feel like a distant dream. Then comes the storm. A violent confrontation. A desperate drive through fog. A crash that fractures more than bone. Michael survives—but wakes without memory of the woman who loved him. What follows is not simply a battle for romance, but a battle for identity. As Samantha gaslights him into believing Whitby was a hallucination born of drug use and trauma, Willow refuses to surrender the truth. Because love, she believes, does not live only in memory. It lives in the body. When Michael returns to Whitby by chance, something stirs beneath the blankness. His hands remember heat. His instincts protect. His heart aches without knowing why. In the warmth of Fields of Waves and the quiet resilience of the woman he once chose, fragments begin to surface. Faded Memories is a slow-burning gothic romance about trauma, gaslighting, chosen family, and the radical power of gentleness. It asks a haunting question: If the mind forgets love— can the body still find its way home? And in the end, the answer is not remembering. It is choosing.

I Was Reincarnated As A Tree?!

Satoru Satoshi, a 37 year old heart surgeon. A man as introverted and antisocial as they come, all he does is work and then leave. That's how it's always been. Since the day Satoru first entered the hospital during his trainee days, he has always moved the same way. Like a clocks hands, forever moving in a constant cycle. He appeared, worked diligently and efficiently, cleaned up, then left. He always arrived 1 hour early and left 30 minutes late. He actively avoided conversations, and whenever doing so was impossible, he'd do whatever he could to answer any questions or concerns and then leave. No one knew that after work, the reason Satoru was always so punctual about when he showed up and when he left was because of a Game. Outside of working, Satoru didnt do much. He didn't need to. He had no friends or lovers, and he didn't have a family either. He did have a small compact apartment, and a working phone with good Internet and wifi. The game he played was a MMORPG game called "Hero's Chronicles", a game in which you could choose and customize your character, start your journey depending on who you chose to accompany you and unlock different stories and endings depending on the choices you make. The game was very advanced and despite how big it was, it didn't put too much of a strain or burden on his phone battery or space which he was thankful for. He had only enough to pay for the best Internet and data for his phone, but he didn't have enough to afford a good gaming PC or VR set. Even if he did, he was rarely home because of work, and his home was very small and had very little space for such things. In the end, gaming on his phone was the best for him. "It's convenient and portable, if I need more space I can just buy more without issue as well." is how he always thought whenever he pulled over buying something new. In the world of HC, called Elyria, he played as The male Hero Protagonist. He didn't change his appearance, because he didn't want to get rid of his pure appearance which was the complete opposite of his own. Satoru wasn't unattractive, quite the opposite actually. However, his appearance was a gloomy, dark, edgy, maybe even quietly dangerous one. He had long black hair that drapped over his shoulders and back like ink, and long narrow dark eyes like two orbs holding the abyss. His skin was pale, ghostly even, and his features though toned were chiseled and defined, from his long handsome nose to his long slender fingers. Contrary to him however, the hero he played had golden hair and eyes, slightly tanned skin and an outgoing, bubbly and kind personality. On top of that, he was very handsome, having his design based directly off of the voice actor behind the character. But looks weren't what made Satoru want to play the game so badly that he'd rush into his cold empty apartment. The reason he loved the game so much was because of the voice actor. He made the game feel alive, and paired with great visuals, gameplay and storyline, Satoru couldnt help but fall in love. The kind of bonds, adventure, and blindingly bright colours that he saw when playing the game. Even down to the beautiful and calming or intense music. Elyria was truly a world unlike his own, and he got to live and experience it through the game. Through the character. That's why it made Satoru so happy when he ended up meeting the VA to that very same protagonist in his favourite game. That's also why... he didn't have the energy to fight back or even feel wronged, when he met his end because of that same VA. In the end, a new colour finally appeared in Satoru's otherwise bleak and colourless world. For the first time in a long time, he saw.... Red. Overwhelming and bright. Thick and beautiful. Despite his cold body, he felt warm. mesmerized until he saw no more red. And then for a long time, he sunk into endless darkness. Until.... He opened his eyes again, and saw A bright Field
