It was indeed a most ordinary family dinner. The peasant woman's cooking was average, and the dishes were nothing special—just a plate of dried tofu, a dish of stir-fried greens, a plate of sliced preserved meat, a dish of peanuts sprinkled with fine salt, two bowls of rough rice, and a pot of cheap wine. In the dimly lit room, Fang Xing and the village woman sat across from each other and silently finished the meal and drank the pot of wine. The village woman then stood up, tidied up the cups and plates, brewed a cup of tea for Fang Xing in a rough clay cup, and placed it in front of him before sitting lightly by his side, exchanging silent glances.
"Did you come here specifically to find me?"
After a long silence, the peasant woman lightly smiled, revealing a radiance that her coarse clothes could not hide.
Fang Xing merely shook his head with a smile and said, "In fact, I never knew you were here!"
