Chapter 180 - Chapter 179: Waiting for the Rabbit

"Damn it!"

A low, angry growl exploded within the empty office.

Blair slammed the tablet in her hand onto the desk; on the screen, the satellite tracking display was still flickering.

Those red dots representing the genetic virus had already scattered across the globe and were still moving.

She knew better than anyone what this meant.

Those viruses had already been absorbed by some animals.

The destruction of the experimental space station in orbit was already an incalculable loss for the Energy Gene Corporation.

That space station, loaded with the genetic virus, had cost her years of hard work and tens of billions in funding.

And now, what was even more lethal were those scattered virus containers.

According to satellite tracking, most of those containers had crashed in uninhabited areas.

But the problem was, those places were exactly the areas with the highest density of wildlife.

An experimental white mouse, after absorbing the genetic virus, had its size swell by hundreds or even thousands of times, becoming large enough to destroy the entire space station.

What about those wild animals?

A wolf, a crocodile, or even other large animals.

Even if they only swelled by a dozen or a few dozen times, it would be enough to trigger a massive disaster.

When that time comes, what will public opinion be? What will the government do? What will those angry citizens do?

Blair didn't dare think any further.

She took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.

The only thing she could do now was to capture them alive before those animals completely mutated and triggered a disaster.

As long as they were brought back to the lab and the genetic virus was extracted from their bodies, a new agent could be re-developed.

Although the cost would be enormous, at least some of the losses could be recovered.

She picked up her phone and was about to dial the Security Supervisor's number—

On the screen, the signal bars were empty.

Blair's expression changed slightly.

Refusing to believe it, she pressed it a few more times, but there was still no response.

A chill surged from her spine straight to the top of her head.

She spun around abruptly, her gaze sweeping toward the tightly closed office door.

"Security—"

Just as the words left her mouth, the door was pushed open from the outside.

"No need to call."

A tall man was the first to step into the office; his 2.3-meter frame almost filled the entire doorway.

He wore a black tank top, his exposed arms bulging with muscles, radiating an extremely oppressive aura.

Rex.

Behind him, three men and one woman filed in.

Those four men all had fierce auras, looking like battle-hardened warriors at a glance.

But the one leading them was a girl who looked no more than eighteen or nineteen years old.

Ivy.

She wore a sharply tailored black dress, her long hair draped over her shoulders, her expression cold.

Compared to the burly men around her, she appeared exceptionally petite and harmless.

But when Blair's gaze fell upon her, she felt an inexplicable pang of palpitations.

"They've already fallen asleep."

Ivy spoke indifferently, her voice calm.

"You can save your strength."

Blair's pupils constricted suddenly.

But she was indeed a woman capable of controlling a giant corporation.

After just a second of shock, she reacted quickly—

Her hand yanked open a drawer, and a silver handgun was gripped in her hand!

The muzzle was aimed at Rex, who was walking in the lead.

The moment the handgun was in her hand, the fear in Blair's heart subsided slightly.

She had a gun.

No matter how strong the opponent was, they were still just flesh and blood.

She took a deep breath, aimed at Rex's broad chest, and pulled the trigger without hesitation!

"Bang!"

The gunshot was exceptionally loud within the enclosed office.

The bullet accurately struck Rex's chest, leaving a small bullet hole in his black tank top.

And then—

Nothing happened.

No blood splattered, there was no scream, and no one fell.

Rex didn't even take a step back.

He just looked down at the bullet hole in his chest, then looked up with a faint smile on his face.

Blair's eyes widened instantly.

"This... how is this possible..."

She subconsciously took a step back, but her hand still gripped the gun tightly.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Three more shots!

Every shot hit accurately, every shot striking Rex's Torso.

But that tall man remained motionless.

He just stood there, letting the bullets explode against him.

"Madam, it's useless. This kind of firearm cannot harm me."

Rex patted his chest and said indifferently.

"How is this possible!"

Blair's voice was already trembling.

"How can a human contend with bullets?!"

No one answered her.

Ivy didn't even spare her a glance.

She walked quickly to the computer equipment on one side of the office, her gaze scanning the running screens and data servers.

The objective of this mission was clear—

Control Blair and seize all of Energy Gene Corporation's research results.

Especially that device capable of emitting low-frequency sound waves to attract giant beasts.

She reached out, preparing to dismantle the core server's main unit and take it away.

Just then—

"Zzzzt!"

A blinding arc of electricity suddenly exploded beside her hand!

That arc accurately struck the server's main unit, instantly burning the entire device into a blackened mess of scrap metal!

Ivy's movements froze.

She snapped her head around, looking toward the direction the electric arc had come from.

The door on the other side of the office had been pushed open at some unknown point.

A woman dressed in a black bodysuit was leaning against the doorframe, a playful smile hanging on the corner of her mouth.

Her figure was tall and slender, the bodysuit outlining her perfect curves.

Most striking was her right hand; a long whip made of lightning was coiled around her wrist.

"Boss's guess was indeed correct."

The woman spoke, her voice lazy and confident.

"By waiting for the rabbit, one can catch some small fry."

As she spoke, her gaze shifted from Ivy to the pale-faced Blair in the corner.

"I told you, you need my help."

She stepped into the office, her high heels clicking sharply on the floor.

"As a reward—"

She came to a halt in front of Blair, looking down condescendingly at this corporate boss who had just been so arrogant.

"I'll be taking all of Energy Gene Corporation's research results."

In those eyes was an unquestionable dominance.

Blair opened her mouth to say something, but found she couldn't say a word.

The handgun was still in her hand, but she no longer dared to fire.

Bullets couldn't pierce that burly man, and they certainly wouldn't work against this clearly even more powerful woman.

Moreover, Blair looked at the Lightning Whip in the woman's hand and shuddered all over.

This woman could use lightning!

Who on earth was she?!

Meanwhile, on the other side, Ivy's expression became extremely grim.

Her gaze was death-locked on the woman in black, her brain working rapidly.

This person is strong.

Extremely strong.

From the aura she radiated, she was at least S-rank, possibly even SS-rank.

But she was neither a Hunter nor a Reincarnator.

Because on her body, there were none of the unique fluctuations of a Main God System player.

She, simply wasn't a player of the Main God Game!

Then who was she?

A companion of those invaders?

Ivy's pupils constricted slightly.

If that were the case, things were even more complicated than expected.

Rex and the others quickly gathered around, shielding Ivy behind them.

Their faces were equally heavy with solemnity.

This woman's aura made them feel a powerful threat.

The woman in black, however, seemed completely indifferent to all of this.

She just carelessly toyed with the Lightning Whip in her hand, her gaze sweeping over everyone present.

"What?"

She gave a light chuckle.

"Not welcoming me?"
