The familiar scent of mint and rain drilled into my nostrils, tugging on the parts of my consciousness that remained asleep. It was unknown how long I was out for, but when my eyes finally fluttered open, little by little, I was subjected to a sight that made all my prior worries dissolve like ice.
Eyes like liquid gold stared back at me, relief dripping from them. That chiseled, handsome face graced me with a soft smile, before his lips parted to say, "Welcome back, sleeping beauty."
I let out a soft moan. My head was throbbing like a thousand monkeys had been allowed to run circles around in my skull. When I tried to sit up, Kaeren's hand gently guided me back down.
"Don't strain yourself. You're safe. I'm here with you."
That, I could see. And I was very much glad for it. But what exactly had happened? My memories were jumbled up together like a Jester had conducted a performance with them. That was just how chaotic it was up there.
