As expected, Jonathan couldn't keep the color from rising to his face when Ethan arrived with Olivia and calmly informed him that he intended to marry her.
The news of her pregnancy only made things worse.
"I never raised a son like you," Jonathan said hoarsely, seemingly at a loss for words.
"Darling, please calm down first," Amalia said gently.
That only caused Jonathan to turn his glare toward her.
"He is our only son. Is this the result of all the tolerance and understanding you've shown him?"
The accusation was no longer hidden.
This time, he blamed her openly.
Ethan let out a short laugh and shook his head.
"Why are you so angry?" he asked.
"And why are you taking it out on Mom?"
"Ethan!" Jonathan barked.
"Dad, have you forgotten how old I am?" Ethan replied evenly. "I'm thirty-three years old."
"That doesn't mean I'll allow you to make such a stupid mistake!"
"What stupid mistake?" Ethan shot back.
