The girl hadn't known her own strength; Lucky had just been squeezed until he was gasping for air.
Lucky ran to Victor's side and began to whimper, looking up at him with pitiful eyes.
Victor patted the dog's head apologetically and took a piece of beef from his bag, placing it on the floor.
At this point, the commotion in the classroom finally began to subside.
The scene just now had been truly astonishing.
A first-year student who had only just learned to turn matches into needles—even if she was a top student—shouldn't have been able to use Transfiguration of that caliber.
This proved that Victor's method was indeed feasible!
Moreover... simplifying the complex, this seemed like an unprecedented new path!
Driven by Hermione's success, the young wizards, their interest fully piqued, came up one by one to try it out.
As a result, the success rate on the first attempt was as high as eighty percent.
Those who failed were merely too nervous and had forgotten the rune sequence.
With the students experimenting, the class soon came to an end.
When Victor announced the end of class, the students packed their things and left, excitedly discussing the new method they had learned.
Victor crouched down to comfort Lucky, who had been tied up for the entire lesson.
"I'll go to Hagrid's later and find some wild game for you to fix you up! Then I'll head over to Severus and ask for some Invigoration Draught to wet your whistle."
It was unclear if Lucky understood, but after hearing Victor's words, he began wagging his tail and whimpering affectionately again.
Having comforted the dog, Victor looked up and saw that Harry hadn't left yet, standing by the door with a hesitant look on his face.
"Hmm? Mr. Potter, why haven't you gone to lunch? Your friends have all left." Victor looked around him curiously.
Only Harry was there; his friends had indeed already departed.
"I told them to go on ahead..." Harry looked at Victor, hesitant to speak.
"Oh... it seems you have something you want to tell me." Victor chuckled. "In that case, follow me."
Victor left the classroom with the dog, and Harry followed with his schoolbag on his back.
Victor's office was not far from the classroom.
"Alright, whatever it is, just say it." Victor pulled out a chair for Harry to sit.
Lucky ran to his own bed and lay down; acting as a teaching assistant had clearly exhausted him.
Harry sat down. "Professor... can I learn your... your method of casting spells?"
"Of course. I intended to teach this method to everyone anyway." Victor nodded.
Since he had revealed this system today, besides conducting a small experiment, he also had the idea of passing it on.
Victor had come to terms with many things. His life would be very long, so why not live it a bit more brilliantly?
Becoming a founding master who blazed an entirely new magical trail seemed like a grand ambition.
"What I mean is..." Harry weighed his words. "I want to learn... the full set from you."
Victor realized. "You want me to give you private lessons."
"No... it's just..." Harry was a bit flustered, but upon reflection, Victor wasn't wrong.
He desperately wanted to become a powerful wizard like Victor.
While testing that spell earlier, he had felt that this casting method was incredibly satisfying!
With this method, even a first-year student could cast advanced magic with non-verbal spells, just like the older students!
So, he wanted to learn it now! If he learned slowly like everyone else, it would take too long...
Thus, driven by a small spark of selfishness, he really wanted to get some special guidance from Victor.
However, hearing Victor's words now, Harry suddenly realized his small request was somewhat abrupt and selfish.
Just as Harry was beginning to regret his impulsiveness, to his surprise, Victor readily agreed.
"Of course, no problem!"
"Huh?" Harry was momentarily stunned.
"Sometimes, proper courage deserves a reward. Also, I'm agreeing not because you're special," Victor smiled. "In fact, I would have agreed to whoever came to see me today. But clearly, you seem to have a bit more courage than the others and a stronger desire to improve. I like students like that."
Many students were interested in Victor's system today, but Harry was the only one eager enough to seek him out immediately after class.
*Perhaps... the so-called 'protagonists' of every world really did have their own unique traits?*
*Then he truly deserved this opportunity.*
"That's wonderful!" Harry's eyes sparkled with excitement.
"Don't celebrate too early, Mr. Potter. My system isn't that easy to master. You'll have to study traditional magic and keep up with your schoolwork while also learning my methods. You're destined for a very exhausting future." Victor said solemnly, "Do you still decide to learn?"
"I'm not afraid of hard work!" Harry said firmly.
"Fine..." Victor took two thick books from a drawer and handed them over. "First, memorize these Ancient Rune letters and the meaning behind each one. Then, memorize the table of elements and their interactions—which letters harmonize and which conflict."
Ancient Rune letters possessed magical power; when different letters were combined, they formed a complete spell.
Since there were combinations that complemented each other, there were naturally those that were incompatible...
If he didn't understand these basics, Harry would likely run into trouble later when trying to create his own spells.
In the history of magic, there were many genius wizards who had died while attempting to create new spells...
Harry took the two heavy books, feeling his throat go a bit dry.
No wonder Professor Wick said it would be hard work...
Memorizing these two volumes was indeed no simple task.
But Harry quickly made up his mind. Before school started, he had managed to devour the Herbology textbook; he could manage these two as well!
"Alright, give me your glasses." Victor reached out.
Harry blinked in surprise, then took off his glasses and handed them over.
Victor drew his wand and tapped the glasses lightly. White light flickered as rows of tiny rune sequences were slowly etched onto the frames.
"To learn my system, you need to be able to see the rune sequences inherent in every spell. This will be very beneficial for you." Saying this, Victor handed the glasses back.
Harry put his glasses back on curiously and discovered that his vision had undergone a massive change!
He looked around and saw that anything magical in the vicinity was shimmering with rows of rune sequences he didn't yet understand!
Harry instantly understood the miraculous use of these glasses.
"To turn off this function, just give the left temple of the glasses a light tap. The same goes for turning it on." Victor instructed. "However, you don't need this function for now. Memorize the basics in those two books first."
Harry followed the advice, tapping the temple lightly, and the novel vision vanished instantly.
"I'll work hard!"
Not long after Harry left clutching the two thick books, there was another knock on Victor's door.
"Come in."
Victor took a bite of a small cake.
He saw Fleur stride inside.
"Professor... have you decided to teach your skills to Potter?"
"How did you know?"
"I saw the covers of the books in his hands," Fleur said.
"Fleur, you are indeed very clever; your observation skills are sharp." Victor acknowledged her ability.
"Then... what about us... Professor? You can't teach him and not us," Fleur said softly.
"Ha, of course I'll teach you, but you're different from him." Victor shook his head.
"How are we different from Potter?" Fleur was a bit indignant.
"You are far stronger than him and know much more. Potter is only a first-year who has only recently come into contact with the wizarding world; he's like a blank piece of paper. So, teaching him will be much simpler. You, on the other hand, are different."
Fleur fell into deep thought upon hearing this.
"Years of training have allowed you to develop your own casting habits. If you were to rashly learn my system and abandon those habits, it wouldn't enhance your abilities; it would weaken them." Victor explained.
"Oh... so does that mean we won't be able to learn your skills?" Fleur felt disappointed but had to admit Victor's point made sense.
If you asked her to cast a Disarming Charm, she could do it with a flick of her wrist.
But if you asked her to cast it according to Victor's method, she would likely find it awkward.
In a dangerous battle, that split second of hesitation could be a fatal flaw.
Thus, Victor's reluctance to rashly change their casting habits was truly for their own good.
"That's not to say you can't learn. While you might not be able to use my system directly, you can use my theories to refine and improve the spells you already know."
Seeing Victor's smile, Fleur suddenly understood.
*Exactly—even if they didn't use it directly, the Professor's theory could allow them to strive for perfection in every spell they mastered! Because this theory struck right at the root of magic!*
Victor pulled open a drawer and took out another thick manuscript and a pair of glasses. "Take these; this is what I prepared for you. Use Geminio to duplicate the manuscript so each of you has a copy. As for the glasses' blueprints and sample, I'll give those to you as well; you can find someone to manufacture them yourselves."
These glasses were useless to anyone who didn't understand his theory, so Victor wasn't at all worried about the manufacturing method leaking out.
"Alright! I'll go back and tell them right now!" Fleur excitedly took the items from Victor and hurried out.
"Young people still need more tempering," Victor remarked.
*If he had worn his emotions on his sleeve like that back then, he would have died many times over...*
Victor then felt he was being a bit too fastidious. After all, this was an era of peace, completely different from the situation he had faced in the past.
*Then again... didn't I go through all that suffering back then just so their generation, and myself, could live freely in the future?*
Victor popped the small cake into his mouth and rubbed his fingers together.
The plan was going smoothly so far. So, next...
"My Lord Dark Lord... if you don't die, I really won't be able to sleep..."
