Chapter 336: Two Names
The morning of the third day broke over Bastion Seven with a heavy, gray overcast.
The squad sat around the expansive dining table inside the Rank One Apex Villa. The surface was covered in scattered registry lists and hastily drawn maps of the inner compound. Lyra and Cole stood at the head of the table. They had spent the entire night running the sweeping line at the forge gates.
Lyra did not wear her usual manic grin. Her chaotic energy was completely gone.
"Forty-three," Lyra reported quietly. "We found forty-three bearers holding corrupted marrow, counting Elian and the nine from yesterday. We sealed all of them in secure holding cells."
Cole rubbed his grease-stained hands together. He carried a visible weight of guilt, knowing one of his own men had been compromised.
"None of them carry a trigger rune," Cole added. "They are not bombs. They are just empty vessels."
