"If you could not tell the difference, how am I supposed to?!" Estella cried out.
She summoned a massive, spinning array of dark cosmic needles around her floating form. The corrupted starlight hummed with lethal intent.
"How am I supposed to trust anything you say?" Estella demanded, the tears freezing on her cheeks. "How can I trust your hands to hold me when they are the exact same hands that deliberately locked me out in the cold to break my mind?"
She pushed harder, her grief demanding absolute clarity in a world built entirely on shades of gray. She refused to accept a half-truth. She needed to know what was real, or she was going to burn the entire sky to the ground trying to find it.
Draven realized pragmatism would not save them. Cold logic had utterly failed. The commander had to die so the boy could finally speak.
"Because I love you!" Draven roared.
