Carter Morgan blinked a few times, slowly waking from his dream.
"...Ngh?"
Separated by the burly bodyguard captain, Fu Tailan didn't spare him a glance. His ears were pricked, refusing to miss the slightest sound.
'Will he notice? Will he realize he was just dreaming?'
"What the..."
Carter raised a hand to rub his temples, stopping mid-sentence. "Did I just... nod off for a few minutes?"
The bodyguard captain turned his head. He wasn't a smartwatch, constantly tracking Carter's status, so he could only reply, "Did you?"
"Probably just a little tired," Carter said, hugging the brown leather handbag full of junk tighter to his chest.
He clearly felt something was off but couldn't put his finger on it. Carter thought for a moment, then suddenly whipped his head around to glance at Fu Tailan.
"Has he been behaving?" Carter asked.
Fu Tailan's heart skipped a beat, but he remained perfectly still.
The bodyguard captain grunted in affirmation. "Yes."
