The soft murmur of the garden fountain rustled against the quiet evening air as Antares stepped fully out onto the stone patio.
Solara was the first to notice the shift in the air. Her delicate ears twitched, and as she turned her head, her bright eyes met his. The teacup in her hand paused mid-air. Beside her, Zarah followed her gaze, her fiery eyes lighting up with immediate, radiant warmth.
"Antares..." Solara breathed, stepping away from the marble bench in an instant.
Before he could even take another step forward, both women were across the garden floor. Solara threw her arms around his neck, burying her face into his chest with a soft sigh of pure relief. Zarah joined a second later, wrapping her arms around his waist, resting her cheek firmly against his back.
The cold edge of the surface, the weight of the war, and the mental exhaustion of leading a growing empire dissolved the moment their warmth enveloped him. Antares closed his eyes, wrapping his heavy arms tightly around both of them, resting his chin atop Solara's head as he breathed in the familiar, soothing scent of sweet orchids and home.
"I missed you both," Antares murmured softly, his voice dropping all of its kingly posturing, leaving only raw, genuine affection. "More than you know."
"You took your sweet time up in the cold, my King," Zarah teased softly, pulling back just enough to look up into his dark eyes, her red lips curving into a sultry, teasing smile. "We heard all about your grand achievements—furnaces, mammoths, supply lines... but you left your private chambers awfully cold for weeks."
Solara giggled, her cheeks dusted with a sweet blush as she held onto his forearm, feeling the heat radiating off his body. "And we also heard why you returned so suddenly today. The whole palace is whispering, Antares. Regent Ian, Lord Velas, even the guards..."
Antares blinked, his face suddenly heating up as he coughed into his hand. "They... they're whispering?"
"They say our Sovereign has finally decided to remember he has wives," Zarah purred, her eyes gleaming with playful mischief. She reached up, her soft fingers running down the lapel of his hunting tunic, lightly tugging him forward. "And that you intend to fulfill your royal duties to the bloodline."
"I—well, it is an important step for the Hive—" Antares started to explain, trying to retain his tactical composure, but Solara didn't let him finish.
Solara stepped up beside Zarah, taking his other arm in her grip. Her smile was soft, but there was an unmistakable spark of desire and determination in her eyes. "No more excuses, my King. No more paperwork, no more battle plans, and no more commands."
Zarah took his left hand, intertwining her fingers with his, while Solara tugged firmly on his right.
"Tonight, you belong entirely to us," Zarah whispered, her voice low and intoxicating as she pulled him toward the heavy wooden doors leading into the grand royal bedchamber.
Antares, who had single-handedly struck down frost drakes and led armies without flinching, found himself completely disarmed, willingly allowing himself to be led down the private corridor by his wives.
They reached the grand double doors of the royal bedchamber. Solara pushed them open, revealing the spacious, warm sanctuary within. The room was illuminated by the soft, golden glow of scented candlelight, dominated by the massive, fur-draped velvet bed at its center.
Zarah stepped inside first, pulling Antares past the threshold. Solara followed right behind, reaching back to slide the heavy iron bolt into place with a sharp click, locking out the rest of the world, the Hive, and all the responsibilities of the crown.
Zarah turned back toward him, her hands resting on the chest of his hunting gear, her eyes fixed on his with intense warmth. "Welcome home, Antares."
Solara stepped up beside him, unbuckling the heavy leather straps of his coat, letting it fall heavily to the polished floor.
Antares pulled both of them close, his heart hammering in his chest as the heavy doors remained firmly shut behind them, leaving the Sovereign of the North in the hands of the two women who owned his heart.
The warm candlelight flickered against the draped velvet canopies, casting long, golden shadows across the expanse of the royal bed.
Antares lay at the center of the sanctuary, his broad, battle-scarred frame framed by heavy furs. Solara rested flush against his right side, her slender body pressed intimately to his, her head resting on his shoulder as her soft fingers lightly traced the intricate lines of muscle along his chest. On his left, Zarah leaned over him, her fiery gaze lock-step with his own, her dark hair falling in a fragrant curtain around them as her hand trailed down his waist.
Antares wrapped one heavy arm around Solara, pulling her impossibly closer, while his other hand cupped the back of Zarah's neck, drawing her down into a deep, commanding kiss that sent a wave of heat through the entire chamber.
Solara let out a quiet, trembling breath against his neck, her legs intertwining with his as she leaned up to place lingering, passionate kisses along his jaw and throat.
"You belong to both of us tonight, my King," Zarah whispered against his lips, her voice thick with a heady mix of fierce devotion and unyielding desire.
"I wouldn't have it any other way," Antares grunted softly, his voice dropping into a low, resonant purr that vibrated through both of their chests.
The rhythm between the three of them moved like a synchronized, intoxicating dance. Solara leaned up, her gentle hands guiding his shoulders as she claimed his mouth with a sweet, desperate hunger that matched Zarah's fiery intensity. Antares lifted Solara beneath him, her soft, delicate body melting into his powerful embrace as Zarah shifted behind him, her hands caressing his back and pressing her warm frame flush against his hips.
Every touch was an equal distribution of devotion. Antares turned his attention seamlessly between them, kissing Solara until she gasped his name against his shoulder, then pulling Zarah beneath him to drink in her breathless moans as his hands mapped every curve of her body. Solara reached out, her fingers intertwining with Zarah's over Antares's chest, binding the three of them together in a shared, heated union.
As the late hours of the night deepened into the subterranean quiet, the chamber was filled with the rhythmic sound of deep breaths, whispered vows of love, and the soft rustle of silk and heavy furs.
The cold burden of surface wars, the pressure of leadership, and the endless demands of the Hive were entirely forgotten, replaced by the profound, passionate warmth shared between the Sovereign and the two women who owned his heart.
