"Good night, my love." Deidre's soft voice reached my ears. Her scent drifted over me as she leaned down and pressed a kiss to my cheek, close enough to my lips that the intent was obvious.
Any other time I would have pulled her in and kissed her properly. Goddess knows I had been wound tight for three solid days. Maybe it would have taken the edge off the tension sitting in my shoulders.
"Goodnight, Dee," I mumbled, giving her back an awkward pat.
My head was somewhere else entirely. Candace had left the dinner table too early today. Was it because she had somewhere to be? Someone to meet?
Are you seriously doing this again? Sage growled. We've been watching her for three days. She doesn't have a lover.
Like hell she didn't. Then who was that man in the elevator with her? I had studied that picture close to a hundred times. It wasn't edited. I set my fork down, the metal clinking against the silver dinnerware.
