A fresh wave of dread twisted in my stomach and I pressed my palm flat against my abdomen as panic clawed its way up my throat.
Oh my goddess, that was incredibly stupid!
What if I got pregnant? If this were another universe, I would be so happy to be carrying his child. But not now. Definitely not in this manner.
What was I supposed to do if I was carrying his child? The child of a man who couldn't even look at me afterward? Who had slept with me and then discarded me like yesterday's trash?
Star scowled in anger at the thought and my lungs suddenly felt too tight for a proper breath. The car felt suffocating, as though the walls were slowly closing in around me.
"Please stop at the next supermarket," I told the driver, rushing all my words out at once. "I need to pick up a few things."
Bree glanced at me from the passenger seat, concern immediately replacing her usual cheerful expression. "Luna, I can go in for you."
